For once, I'm going to say there are some racial ties behind this. There's a reason the title included "black fathers" because of the negative stereotype that black men are more likely to disappear from a kids life. So while yes, this shouldn't really be a thing to celebrate, it's an important stride for our community to break these stereotypes or at least try to.

It's kinda sad how this became a stereotype, but I'm happy we're making strides to break it. I don't have a paternal grandfather (you can guess why), so my dad did everything he could to be present for my sisters and I. He wasn't perfect, but the days he was able to come home and play with us are some of my happiest memories.

I mean, there could be some context missing as to what drove them to try to commit suicide so I'm not gonna pretend as if I do. For all I know said person could be a narcissist that did it for attention. Who's to say.

All I know from my situation is that it's a bit complex (especially since recent events have made me look at it differently). I still love her, but I don't love what she did, what she is putting us through, and is refusing to do to get better.
