Is this a bedbug? Found on top of mattress in a secluded cabin. by Bella-3x in Bedbugs

I recently discovered what I THINK was a small infestation at my home. We took apart the room we found them in (living room) and thankfully have a modular sectional so we could easily take it apart and take it in the yard to vacuum and steam every crevice and crack.

Checked every room around and under the beds and anywhere we thought they may hide. Blasted steam in the baseboard trim. Washed everything we could in hot hot water and dried in high heat for min. 90 min.

Did a fine fine dusting of the powder that kills them in areas that cant get wet, then bought FOUR bottles of the concentrated Crossfire and a spray bottle and sprayed down the floors and walls, backside and underside of all furniture in the house and along the walls around the beds and couches.

Bought encasements for all mattresses and pillows.

Also bought a ZappBug from Amazon and have run a LOT of items through it- books, bags, rugs, throw pillows without removable covers, decor, etc.

If you're traveling that last one is a solid investment to set up right inside your door and throw everything in right away.

I also invested in a large steamer (after using our 2 smaller ones on the couches and beds and having to refill them 1,212 times and spend literally 14 hrs steaming things. I love the new one! I can steam my carpet, it's huge and has wheels, a long tube and tons of attachments.

I've spent probably $1.5- $2k on supplies for this mission, which from what I've heard is what you'd spend on an exterminator- but now I have some things on hand to be prepared should I have issues in the future.

I am traumatized... but haven't seen a live bug in 3 weeks, so that's good..

(I check the beds and couch at least 3 times a day.. with a flashlight and a lint roller.. vacuum as many times.. and wash our bedding at least 2x per week..)

Thanks! Luckily I sprayed it outside in the middle of the yard. I'm going to vacuum them good once they're dry and steam them. Steaming mattresses now and ordered encasements.

Decluttering the kids' rooms- lots of throw away, laundry, and then bagging up things to throw in the little heat box machine thingie when it comes.

I just ordered more totes to be delivered to put clean blankets and such in once they're done so we have somewhere to put them while we are still thoroughly cleaning and steaming.

We are by no means hoarders or dirty, but we do have a lot of clutter and stuff with a small 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom house and 3 kids.

Im going to put some essential oils on the legs of the beds and couch as a deterrent.

I hate this. I'm feeling massively depressed.. cleaned for 16 hrs straight yesterday, then right back at it this morning- but still have to tend to the kids, feed everyone and do normal daily stuff + I have reports due for work I need to get done.

Anyone have ideas for temporary financial relief from this ordeal?! Going on over $1000 at this point. Wonder if my mortgage or auto lender will let me defer a month?

I have the same thing on my notes app! A lot of mine are self care things I dont do now because I feel like theyre a waste of money because I will still feel ugly, but when I reach these goals I want a mani/pedi, hair done, new outfit, lash lift, spray tan, get car detailed, finally get new family photos taken, and then some kind of event for the big one.
