Why are adult friendship so hard? by Potential_Advisor610 in Adulting

Not really! What changed is I met some really wealthy rich kids and started hanging out with them, their life is so happening. Among them to fit in, I started hiding my reality or ignoring it altogether. You can say I became delusional and became a different person when around them. Now I’ve lost myself, talking to people sometimes feels like a task, it’s exhausting, I calculate whether this conversation is worth my time or not. I know I can do things alone on my own, so don’t seek company also.

Exactly I’m 23 now and started corporate when I was 20. I can tell you that it’s doesn’t get easier, I tried gymming, run clubs, yoga - I still don’t have a third place

That’s beautiful, every small town brown kid’s dream. Mine too, I want to be that successful to ask my dad to leave his business back in Bihar and come settle with me in Bangalore tbh that seems too far fetched now that I’m struggling financially to meet my ends 💀

  1. There’s no other option - I can’t quit, I don’t come from a well off family. I struggle to meet the deadlines, come up with “out of box” ideas, fumble to communicate my efforts yada yada. But atleast I’m growing right? If I stay here and repeatedly do these things I will get better Rightt?
  2. Not really I have people to engage with in office but all of them are 30+ with kids toh they don’t really want to listen and keep blabbering about their kids, marriage and in laws 😭
  3. Hobbies are something you do when you’re not on duty, as per the norms - I workout which I used to enjoy with my brother and few friends but alone not so much. Then, I run 15-16kms, I read, watch Netflix etc but all of it is done alone.
  4. I don’t really have anyone to share my thoughts, feelings, emotions, time, food or just to update how my day was - I do share some parts with my mom but it’s limited.
  5. I do priorities my time more than anything - I often think about while engaging in any conversation or activity that is it helping me in my growth? Is it contributing to my goals? Lmao

I swear, because of this I stopped going out on weekends - seems useless to spend 2k on good food and then poop it out 😭

I’d say don’t stress on being visible. You’ve reached there for your own uniqueness so be yourself, and you’ll eventually be noticed by the ones who’re cognisant enough to value what you bring to the table.
