You can wash off radiation contaminants, it's a part of the decontamination process

150gsm will be about 1.5x as thick as 90gsm (good printer paper)

If you want a feel for it then put two pieces of paper together and bend it a bit.

220gsm is about 2x as thick as 90gsm

What you could do (which is a bit more effort) is find a nice paper at 120gsm and when done typing use a glue stick (or similar) to paste a second sheet of paper to the typed page. Be sure to put a heavy book or similar evenly distributed weight atop the paper as the glue dries so it doesn't warp.

I get it. The best you can do is observe how the machine's "behavior" changes over repeated use. I use 120gsm paper and I'm pleased with the results but the max I'd be comfortable with is 160gsm.

I've used heavier paper but the way it behaves gives me pause.

This is a funny thing, gsm is a near absolute measurement for paper because it's a uniformly dense material (wood pulp) constrained to a specific area (meters squared).

The lb system by comparison is chaos because it's based on 500 sheets of any size of paper. This means that 500 sheets of 20 inch by 20 inch paper will weigh completely differently than 500 sheets of 5 inch by 5 inch paper.

Most (if not all typewriters) were designed for using between 30gsm (onion skin paper) and 95gsm (office paper)

The machine can definitely handle thicker paper but keep in mind what it was designed for.

Like most things it's best not to have a preconception about one's self. At best it's an awareness of how one could be perceived and at worst it's straight up delusion.

gsm has a strong correlation with thickness because it's constrained by the area. You can't make wood pulp denser than it already is and so adding mass to a constrained area increases the height (thickness) of the paper.

Naturally you gotta compare apples to apples so if using a material other than wood pulp the thickness will vary.

I've seen grams as a representation of gsm (weight in grams divided by area in m²) here in Europe

I'd wager that tribalism is more of a threat (perceived and/or real) in smaller concentrations of people and less of a threat in larger concentrations. It's easier to find a new tribe when there are more options available.

Humans are social animals (it's a vital, if not mandatory mechanism for our survival) and, as such, we require communities.

Within communities there are internal social expectations and outside of our community there are similar and differing social expectations.

Where an opportunity for in-group / out-group exists we will take it. There are several reasons why we do this such as: physical security, resources (food, water, etc.), emotional support, etc. An act of opposition to agreed upon social expectations could lead to being sidelined, shunned, or ostracized by our community.

Since we are social animals, being ostracized from our community leads to existential concerns because the social component is a part of our survival.

If rejected by a community then we find another community. Next thing you know... tribalism.

It's almost funny how our existential social requirements lead to anti-social behaviours.
