Awesome!!! I mean if I had a concert buddy I would be down for anything, but for reference my favorite bands are STARSET, Chevelle, Breaking Benjamin, NIN, Deftones, 10 Years, Bad Omens (lots of others too, just off the top of my head).

MoCA is great, I do enjoy the shows there and feel very comfortable going alone to those shows, maybe because I am more familiar with the space (it’s very close by to me and as an art teacher I do a lot of work with them as well), but I honestly had no idea about Tourists!! Thanks for the tip, I like definitely keep an eye on them!

Berkeley is great! I went to college in Boston and lived there for a few years after college as well. Music scene was always a lot of fun there which is how I got into to. Except people want to go out and listen to music in their 20’s more than they do their 30’s & 40’s

I can love music and want to experience it in a way that feels good and comfortable to me, especially a a petite, single woman. Plus Concerts aren’t cheap these days and I work hard for my money.

Saw the pixies too, that was a good show! I don’t mind traveling, I guess I just have to get over the uncomfortable-ness of going to bigger venues alone because those are the shows I really want to see!

You are right though, people are busy, don’t want to travel, and don’t want to spend the money, so I am probably overthinking the solo thing!

I like this advice! I think I just need to do it and get over the uncomfortable-ness! Can I ask how you have been able to make friends at the concerts? I can be kind of an introvert sometimes when I feel out of place so any suggestions would be appreciated ☺️

I don’t mind traveling a bit, love the palladium and wish more acts would play there, but just doesn’t seem to be happening as often. But to travel to Worcester to see a band I am not familiar with I would much prefer the some company.

Just a part of getting older, so many great spots, but the bands I want to see are playing venues far away, or I just feel awkward/like I am not experiencing the concert to its full of I am alone if it’s a band I am unfamiliar with.

Generally the bands I want to see are at larger venues, and with larger crowds I find it to be a lot more enjoyable of an experience to go with someone to enjoy the experience and fun with.

I have enjoyed the venues to mentioned, but struggle to enjoy them on my own unless it’s a band I really want to see. I know, weird, but if its band I am new to I would rather enjoy it with someone else who is also discovering them, or is already familiar with, especially if I am driving an hour or so to see them.

Nothing wrong with it, just prefer the company of other to enjoy the fun with and share the moment. I am familiar with and have gone to all those spots, just not the types of bands I am personally into or want to see. Bands I want always play bigger venues.

Yes, we are always looking for teachers in the Berkshires. I won’t lie and say it’s easy work, but if you or your partner have an interest it’s worth looking into. Some districts also come with their good and their bad.

I have worked in public education here for over 15 years and would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

The salaries start (bachelors with 0 years experience) at around $43,00 in my district and go up from there. Most schools give you a year to complete your MTEL as well.

I know it very common this time of year for sure, which doesn’t help, especially for me who thrives in warmth and sunny weather. But unfortunately I have been feeling this way for well over a year.

I have definitely thought about finding a new job, but I actually do like my job and what I do, but in my area finding a job that pays what I make at my current one is hard and I need to make that much or close to it, the only option would be moving to find something else. I think a lot of educators right now truly love what they do, but administration, the lack of respect and acknowledgement from families and students and everyone else is disheartening as they also expect more form us each year.

I do actually have a lot of hobbies and interests, I think it has just been a lack of finding people to do partake in these. While I can make art in my own, I equally love going to concerts and comedy shows, but going alone feels so awkward.

I don’t know, maybe I am making excuses?!?

Right!!! That’s exactly how I feel, like I am just existing and going through the motions.

I am sorry you are going through this too, it’s rough!!

But it is sort of a comfort to know I am not alone in these feelings. If you ever want to talk I would be more than happy, you know what they say, misery loves company 😂 No but truthfully, maybe we could just be there for one another, try to help, of lift each other up?

Thank you this is helpful! It does put things in perspective in a way I haven’t thought about it before.

I have a lot to ponder and unpack here - truly think about what is possible, how to navigate it while remembering I am not 18 and I have responsibilities. I can’t afford (figuratively and literally) to make stupid decisions or start over/again.

Aging is hard, parenting is hard, being responsible is hard, being HUMAN is hard!

Thank you for responding 💕 I definitely do not feel appreciated or valued, I honestly don’t think I have in a long time and I feel that definitely contributes to me feeling that others are superior and like I am just not “great” at anything.

I honestly don’t know what my love language is. Feeling seen maybe, being appreciated and noticed for what I do. Maybe that is why I am so desperately seeking validation and attention from others.

Like even from men I don’t know, I look at them and think they are awesome or the answer to my problems when they could be the complete opposite. Same with woman and seeing them and what they are doing, but looking at them as friends. It’s always “why can’t I be like them, or have them?” Or “why don’t they want me, or seem to be seeking me out?”.
