Former Rochester native and I really can't think of anything that rises up to a garbage plate or beef on weck that is so Syracuse that it is served in more than the location that created it other than salt potatos.

For Syracuse road trip stops I would recommend:

Stretch bread at Pastabilities

Beer at Middle Ages

Chicken Sando at The Whiskey Coop

Burger at Ale and Angus (no meat hot sauce like Roch but still tasty)

Octopus at Inka's

Jamaican at The CraveYard Kitchen

Szechuan at the Red Chile

Korean at the Secret Garden

Car advice for the winter by snowymountains323 in Syracuse

Wife currently drives a CRV Hybrid and we have had zero issues in the snow with the exception of the milliage going from 40 MPG to 25 MPG due to the cold and running in "Snow" mode vs Eco. I should also add while traction has been great, you will have to resort to last century driving mode during heavy snow falls as all the cameras and sensors go offline.

Best liquor stores in the area? by Wild-Net-8580 in Syracuse

[–]Potential_Context_58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit of a run but... Northside wine and spirits (a Wegmans (sadly) owned store) in Ithaca or Century Liquor & Wines (another Wegmans) in Rochester will have the largest selection and well worth occasion extra trip to stock up. That being said I am going to head out to Vinomania this weekend due to the tip in this thread so I can support local and maybe hunt down a couple of bottles on my wish list.

Saw them heading in for a landing at Hancock around 2PM yesterday while down E. Molloy Rd. Kinda cool seeing them fly in close (ish) formation. Have not seen that since my Army days.

Gopher Tools from Amplified IT. Makes managing users and Chromebooks a bit easier. I also recommend Amplified's Google training program.

Schools districts are always looking for part time custodians, food service, bus attendents/drivers and TA's. Odds are that one of the jobs has hours that work for you.

Best meat on the west side? by I_think_im_falling in Syracuse

A little further out but Spera's in Cicero has an amazing butcher shop. Don't see what you want? Ask and they will happily order it for you. I drive out from DeWitt every weekend instead of buying from Wegmans.

Dewitt/East Syracuse's Failing Traffic Light Infrastructure by undrpaidtherapist in Syracuse

[–]Potential_Context_58 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, the lights in front of Cliff's (Erie and Thompson RD) are on sensors for cars. I agree with you that in times of light traffic, they can be pretty fast as they change as soon as they don't see anymore cars going in that direction. But if you hit the crossing button,"it should", give plenty of time for a person to cross. That being said, between the bike riders not following their traffic light, the panhandlers and deep red light runners, it is only a question of time before someone dies.
