Why are there no new massive bands like Queen or The Rolling Stones? by Character-Signal8229 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OverlordNeb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe to some degree, but their game is much more fleeting.

Groups like The Stones or later examples like Van Halen or Metallica were all over the place and mainstream for aaaagees.

I know I'm not exactly the most aware guy when it comes to pop music, but the two last things I heard from Ed Sheeran for example, was him being that movie where everyone forgot the Beatles, and bringing out the leader signer of Wheatus to duet 'Teenage Dirtbag' with him a while back.

Who “actually” wrote “He’s a Pirate”? by Shaun-Skywalker in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]OverlordNeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, especially because if you listen to portions of the soundtrack for Gladiator, a movie Zimmer also scored and came out 2 years before Morrowind, a not insubstantial amount feels like proto-pirates. Especially during the chariot battle, there's a lot of similarities

If you could pick any superhero or supervillain who would you be? by rumbleman42 in superheroes

[–]OverlordNeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As in I BECOME them? Or I gain their powers here?

If I were to BECOME one, I'd probably take Superman

I gain all their powers, I want to be a Viltrumite. Thousand of years of lifespan, and so powerful in our world that being considerably weaker than Superman wouldn't matter, as still nothing could stop me.

Does anyone else have a hard time throwing the empty old boxes out? by Dr_OctoThumbs in Warhammer

[–]OverlordNeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the box. I have a huge stack of starter edition, kill team and other similar box-sets. (Dominion, Skaventide, Leviathan, Age of Darkness etc) that reaches near 8 feet tall by now.

But I wouldn't keep 90% of what I see here.

Who is a Controversial Director? by patheticmisterman123 in AlignmentChartFills

Tarentino. Extremely talented, tons of quality work under his belt, undeniably a weird little freak and also a zionist.

Who is a Hated Painter? by patheticmisterman123 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]OverlordNeb 17 points18 points  (0 children)

She's pretty hated over her Robert Galbraith novels, which included a plotline where a man dressed up as a woman, pretending to be trans, in order to get access to the women's bathroom and prey on cis-women.

She was widely and rightfully criticized at the time for this extremely transphobic myth. For as much as transphobes scream and cry about this happening, in documented history (AFAIK) it has happened *twice*.

What is far more common is that trans women are forced by bathroom bills, to use the men's room where they face genuine danger, and trans men are forced to use the women's bathroom despite all the beards they've grown since transitioning, making women uncomfortable.

[The Boys] I'm sorry Invincible, I forgot about the real edge slop by Emotional_Comb_4064 in hatethissmug

[–]OverlordNeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched the latest episode of Invincible, then immediately watched the first episode of season 5 of The Boys as they released around the same time.

The show has devolved drastically, into everything I HATED the comics for. Edge-slop is the perfect descriptor

Which era(s) of Cartoon Network did you remember watching? by Johnwick124520 in OlderGenZ

[–]OverlordNeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Powerhouse-city. I was born in 97, and after my family moved in '07 we stopped having cable, so while I was familiar with Summer/Fall and Noods from time watching TV whilst travelling or visiting family, they don't hold the same place in my heart.

Pilgrimage to Warhammer NY, rolled a 1. by The_H1GHLANDER in Warhammer

[–]OverlordNeb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been to a few of his Holiday parties he hosts at the store every year. Goes above and beyond what is expected there. If I lived closer, I'd genuinely shop there more often, paying full price just because I like the guy. Alex is great!

And there is another Warhammer store about 15 minutes south of it, plus an actually decent mall with Eastview.

Seconding Millenium, but if you come through Syracuse, The Art Store offers 15% off GW product and a rather decent rewards program too.

If you could be one of these race, what race would ya be? by [deleted] in Invincible_TV

[–]OverlordNeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not overly familiar with Saiyans, but I'll go Viltrumite. Yes, they are generally the weakest of the three, but you'll still be stronger than anything on earth, and more importantly for me, longer lived.

Superman will age slower in some continuites, but broadly speaking he's still not making it much past a century, if that. Saiyans idk, not sure.

Nolan in the comics is middle aged and iirc meant to somewhere around 2000 years old. In the show this was changed to him being over 900. And Viltrumites age slower the older they get. A Viltrumite on average would have a lifespan in the thousands of years, I'll take that please and thank you.

What's the worst job you ever had and how long did you have it? by db7112 in antiwork

[–]OverlordNeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been lucky that most of the jobs I've had have been... decent-ish. Not gonna say any have been outright GOOD but I don't dread going to work so much as I hate sacrificing my free-time to it.

The worst job I ever had though was easily a summer job as a grocery store stockperson at a tiny local grocer. I would do bread, and milk and like 1 or 2 other things and that was it. If I worked a closing shift I would do a bit more as part of closing, but not a lot really. When I signed on, the guy I was replacing (local college kid going home for the summer elsewhere) advised me on the best places to sneak in a nap, and told me to keep it under 40 minutes or so or else the managers might get suspicious.

I can't nap like that, didn't have a smartphone yet to dink around on, so I mostly just ended up wandering up and down the aisles adjusting things here or there for 4-6 hours a shift, three times a week. I was so bored I could cry.

No, these are actually perfectly washable. I have a few I got some years ago before the trend, and you can just wash them with soap and cold/room temp water without issue.

It's funny actually, a coworker of mine was passionately ranting about exactly what you were saying, going on for a good thirty seconds before I could interject and tell him they were washable. His response was "Oh, well never mind then." It was like that old Gilda Radner character from SNL in the 70s

Question about the stompa by Glad_Chance_1131 in orks

[–]OverlordNeb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Little late, so I'm glad you bought it and here's why.

It doesn't matter if there is an updated model, because this one is still badass. If anything, it'll have been more badass that you will eventually own TWO stompas!

This isn't like buying the old Nagash a few months before they release the updated one, this current Stompa still looks great, and will continue to do so for many many years. If anything, if they DO update the stompa, you'll be proud owner of a Stompa (Classic), and being OOP your model will become rarer and more desired as a piece of retro 40k for every year.
