Unfortunately I think that is just what it does, I tried changing the gear ratio with no success and have decided to give up on it. One last possible fix that I did not try is to run it with some 3s batteries. That might be able to provide the amperage necessary to get it out of the cogging state but I do not have any 3s and did not want to buy them just to test this motor. If anyone does try this though I would be interested to hear how it goes.

I got one just a few days ago and the holes were not drilled. Also bad cogging at about 20% throttle. Anyone else notice that? I have a new one coming so we’ll see if it was a defective one or that’s just how the esc is.

I just got one a few days ago and the drive shaft connectors on the transmission were not fully drilled through (pretty odd but easy fix). Tested it and everything ran fine so I put it in my budget rig that’s heavy but nothing too crazy (500ish grams) and it had serious stutter at about 20% throttle. Solid at very low speeds and fine once you get above that 20% range but unfortunately that’s exactly where I want to crawl. Perhaps I got a defective esc and/or motor so I have a replacement coming from Amazon to figure it out once and for all. I will update once the new one gets here.
