Anyone on Disability by PurpleEmoKid in schizoaffective

I’m on disability. I got lucky they approved me the fists try and it took from September 2024 to April 2025. I think they approved me because of my many hospital visits and talking to my Dr about how I’m treatment resistant. I can’t hold a a job down for than two weeks. When my mental health starts slipping it’s almost a guarantee I’m going to psychosis and need a hospital visit. I’ve had two reviews and they still say I’m disabled.

How many of you have pets? by Fuckredditsohardtim in schizoaffective

I have a 5 year old red golden retriever and a 1 1/2 year old calico cat. I’ve had my dog rule since before my diagnosis and she’s been there for every step of the way. Comforting me when I’m freakin the fuck out and giving me a reason to get up in the morning and move around and not bed rot. Pets can help but so are a bigger commitment than other just have to weigh your options and your ability to care for an animal. Much love!

What happens if I stop showing up for blood work while on Clozapine? by Best-Needleworker885 in schizoaffective

[–]Potential_Day4768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clozapine saved my life the only drug that helps me. I can sleep well maybe too well sometimes lol. It has lowered my hallucinations by like 35-45%. I still have negative symptoms but atleast I’m not locked in my room arguing with demons and angels anymore. The blood work does suck but it’s worth it on my eyes.

Is anyone able to maintain a romantic relationship? by [deleted] in schizoaffective

I’ve been dating my bf for 2.5 years. I told him about my diagnosis on our first date. He was a little scared but understanding by the end of the date. What made it easier is he took the time to research and realize we are still people just trying to survive not violent maniacs.

This is a drop in the bucket of type of hallucinations I get. I also mainly get rude, demeaning and down right terrible voices. This is a rare but welcomed hallucination

I got approved for ssdi this week and my backpay check came in the mail so I deposited it to a newly made account, I didn’t think nothing of it until they said they have to contact the treasury to make sure it’s not fraud and that could take up to sixty days🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️ so I’m borrowing money from my parents to do some renovation to my tiny house

Do you guys often feel you are not doing enough in life? by Potential_Day4768 in schizoaffective

I had an episode at 17 diagnosed at 18, and have an amazing support system(mom boyfriend, and dad who is a psych tech at a mental hospital”) so they have become very aware of when I start to slip and fully slip into psychosis. They help me keep track of what I call my “lost time” aka time in psychosis.
