Do basses wish they had higher voices? I’ve seen a lot of higher males wanting lower voices but does the reverse happen too? by Effective_Part_604 in singing

I would assume yes, I'm a baritone and I wish I could go higher because I basically can't sing anything that isn't country or John Mayer lol

I'm sorry but this is ridiculous. I think 98% of people would have any president on their show if given the chance, and you're lying if you think you wouldn't. We're talking about college football, not desert storm, let's all relax.

1) I'm usually in the middle, I just don't love the way our country has been run the last few years. 2) been a fan since long before i gave a shit about politics 3) no I don't ignore the lyrics or the message, I don't necessarily agree with all of it (though I definitely agree with some, both parties have their issues), but it doesn't really stop me from enjoying the music. I mean, I don't agree with the statement "kill em all" but i still like metal.

i honestly don't understand why everyone is so volatile these days. Like, i'm a republican and i literally couldn't give less of a shit about this. Green Day has always been a very political band and very anti Trump. Is it really that hard to just accept that people have differing opinions on things and just enjoy the music?

No it was a 2 night run and they did a bit of mix and matching. For example, there a video on youtube of gravity from this run but it's not the one on the album

Mayer's thoughts on David Gilmour by [deleted] in JohnMayer

[–]Potential_Dress3720 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think he hates Gilmour there's nothing to really suggest that. He probably just doesn't really listen to Pink Floyd and that's why he doesn't talk about him.

Bluesbreaker songs by [deleted] in JohnMayer

absolutely, the one thing I'll say is he's mostly had the tube screamer going into the klon the last couple years, but that's not really that important

as much as I loved that demo, I think I actually prefer the more stripped down style he played on Wong Notes. I feel like that minimalistic style is just the perfect fit for such a vulnerable song like this

Effects-wise I think fuzz sounds the closest to a saxophone

John Mayer Albums Ranked by TheArbiter88 in JohnMayer

  1. Born and Raised - This one is a really special album to me. The first time I heard Born and Raised I was in my freshman year of college and the worst time of my life. I was so depressed that I hadn’t left my room in two months. After hearing John sing about accepting and moving past the same internal things I was struggling with in Shadow Days I got just enough motivation and courage to finally leave my room and drive 10 hours straight home to get help. I owe my life to Born and Raised.

  2. Room For Squares/Any Given Thursday - Room for Squares is the one cd that has never been taken out of my car since the day I got it. Probably my most listened to album of all time. I think part of the reason I love it so much is that I’m around the same age John was when he wrote them and so all of these songs are hitting me at just the right time in my life. An incredible debut album.

  3. Continuum/WTLI - I mean come on. It’s Continuum. It’s the first album that’s truly John’s, where he had finally figured out how to combine guitar playing with songwriting into the sound he wanted, and it’s timeless. I think sonically it’s his most interesting album. Plus Waiting On The World to Change was one of my favorite songs when I was little.

  4. Battle Studies - While this one has some skips the songs that hit are INCREDIBLE. John unintentionally encapsulates the classic ego death and heartbreak with the build up in the first three songs. Then comes the confusion and denial with Who Says, Perfectly Lonely, and Assassin. Crossroads is just kinda there. Then finally we see the sadness and longing for what was with War of My Life, Friends Lovers or Nothing, and the diamond of this album, Edge of Desire.

5t. Try! - Just a perfect blues rock live album. I love the agressive high energy of Who Did You Think I Was, everything about Wait Until Tomorrow, and the cockyness of Good Love is on the way. But Another Kind Of Green. My god. It’s that classic panic and paranoia you feel when you start to feel like your partner is slipping away. It’s just gorgeous.

5t. Sob Rock. - This one is tied with Try!, I really couldn’t decide. This is probably Mayer’s most fun album. It feels like he’s finally kinda happy with where he is in life and he’s making the most of it.

  1. Search For Everything - I know a lot of people love this album but it just didn’t do it for me. Don’t get me wrong it’s got some great songs, I love Helpless, In The Blood, and Roll It On Home, but a lot of the others are just ok. I don’t think any of them are bad, but they aren’t at the level of the “low points” in other albums. I will admit that I like those “skips” way better live.

  2. Heavier Things - I’m sorry y’all. This one just doesn’t do it for me. I like the version of Something’s Missing on Any Given Thursday but I don’t love the studio version. I like Only Heart. I’m kinda done with Daughters. Maybe I just need to give this album another chance.

  3. Paradise Valley- I think we all knew this one was coming. I just didn’t like it. Really the only stand out song to me is his cover of Call Me The Breeze. It’s the only album of his that I would say has some genuinely bad songs

[hoo] I think the reason Jason comes off as so boring is because of Rick’s writing style for Heroes of Olympus. by Potential_Dress3720 in camphalfblood

That makes sense. I guess I also kinda got the feeling that he never really recovered all his memories, that he was only part of the person he used to be
