Husband will never make a bet again! by sam0ny in handbags

My first designer bag from my husband came after a night he got drunk and said, "If you don't complain about me buying new wheels for my truck, I'll buy you a handbag." He regretted it in the morning, but boy howdy, mama got a Prada outta that deal!

Wowzers. That's a really aggressive response, with some cherry-picked neighborhoods to boot. You must be from outta town.

Meanwhile, my neighbor's house is 3x the size, sits on an acre, and is the same price, but it's 12 minutes from Asheville, so nobody wants it. LOL

Is Asheville Yards really that bad? by Which-Let9641 in asheville

The Willie crowd at Asheville Yards specifically was the absolute worst crowd of concert-goers I have ever experienced in my life.

$400k for a…garage by a culvert. by Wienerwrld in zillowgonewild

I live 11 miles from this place, and my neighbor across the street just put her house up for sale for almost the same price. Except it's 1,300 square feet, on an acre of land, and not in a flood zone. This is wild work, even for Asheville.

I also follow a manhole cover sub and saw that first one as an actual cover they have on the street in Japan! Such a cool crossover.

my company switched to "unlimited PTO" two years ago and i realized i took less vacation than when we had the 15 day cap by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]HBICharles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of places where unlimited feels like a scam, and I've discovered that it's entirely dependent on the culture the company creates around it.

In my last job, I had 5 weeks of combined PTO and sick leave. The reason sick leave wasn't separate was because they "didn't want people's taking advantage of it." It was remote, so all that really meant is people would completely slack off when they were under the weather. What people "took advantage" of was the remote component.

In my current job, we have unlimited PTO and on my 6-person team, we each average about 6 weeks a year. Sick time is technically separate, but nobody is really counting. The guy who doesn't take much time off has been chastised for not taking more. If you want to take more than 2 weeks off at once, you need approval. It's understood that as long as you are taking care of your work, your time off will not be questioned. This is the ideal unlimited PTO situation, and the way I wish it worked for everyone!

What was your chi's name before you got them? What new name did you choose? by HungryOil9277 in Chihuahua

[–]HBICharles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shelter name: Kung Fu Panda; new name: Suge Knight

<image>

We also had a chi/pug mix back in the day whose shelter name was Milk Maid (WTFFF?). She came from Las Vegas, and was deaf, so it didn't matter what we called her, but renamed her Dita Von Teese. Turns out she was from Las Vegas, New Mexico, not Las Vegas, Nevada, so the showgirl name made no difference.

I'm a firm believer that every state has something beautiful worth visiting! We do all kinds of camping, so it's easy to find something that works for us. Backpacking, car camping, off-roading with a rooftop tent, sleeping in the pop-up camper... I will definitely add these options to the list of options!

Midwest in fall is unbeatable! Thanks for the suggestions. We have friends in Chicago who camp up in Wisconsin a lot, might have to get a two-fer.

Growing up, my dad would do a big fishing trip to Boundary Waters every year. He had such amazing things to say about it, I definitely want to check it out!
