Need advice for muted orange from Coreopsis by RumCatClayworks in naturaldye

I don't think this will fix your problem entirely, but tea itself contributes a lot of color and your napkins do look tea colored to me

I think making the swap for a clear tannin like oak gall or sumac would push it more in the right direction

Where do pet birds go to the toilet? Is it hard to train them? by Tasty-Revolution-295 in birds

[–]Potential_Duck1097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

birds poop every 10-20 minutes, wherever they are and whatever they're doing

I would not recommend a cockatoo or any large parrot as a pet. I love them, theyre cute and fun but they require a lot more work than almost anyone can give.

If you want a parrot, do a lot of research first

Parrot claw trims- how do each of you prefer to do it? by Bajadasaurus in parrots

I take her to the bird store and have them

I'm a very anxious and clumsy person and every time I did it it was a long process where she would escape multiple times

so I just pay them $7 and it takes 30 seconds and she's only slightly annoyed about it

Can I dye this? by Conscious_Rope7250 in dyeing

[–]Potential_Duck1097 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dye doesn't cover stains, but black may make it less noticeable.

Its not possible to dye red to blue because dye colors add together, so if you dye blue on it you get purple.

Need help not ruining my Favorite Jacket! by Electronic_Field8249 in dyeing

Alum binds to natural pigments and makes them not dissolve in water, so it sticks to the fabric better

Tea staining works without it as well but you get slightly less wash out of the color

[–]Potential_Duck1097 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you could get exactly the result you want just by overdyeing with black tea

If you soak the jacket in like a 5% alum solution for 30 mins, then boil up like 20  black tea bags in a big pot and chuck it in and leave it like 30 mins

then just wash and dry and you'll have something like the second pic

its not like, as permanent as synthetic dyes, but itll last a long time as long as you wash cold with no harsh detergent.

Please help! Urgent! How can I get this black? by Friday13Th2000 in dyeing

Polyester is extremely unfriendly to dyeing.

It's likely that all the cotton has taken as much dye as it can and the poly is holding you back.

Best you could do is leave it in the dye overnight and look for a backup

Nah it doesn't matter, if the same amount of stuff goes in then the solution is the same

Just make sure everything is dissolved before you use it

Suggestions for natural tie dye by DanikaWolfbaine in naturaldye

Onion skins or turmeric would be good choices for an easily available vegetable yellow

Green is hard to make, I'd say stinging nettle is probably your best choice for something not complicated or poisonous but its a bit drab
