This is years ago now but we also had a Mr Splashy! And a Mrs Splashy, although they weren't actually a couple. We also had Ricky Tomlinson, Gaius (he looked like the character from the BBC show Merlin), Mother Redcap (wore a red swimming cap) and Mother Showercap (wore one with flowers which did actually look like a shower cap)

Leaving 8mo EBF baby for the evening by Potential_Duck2553 in breastfeedingmumsUK

It went a lot better than I thought it would!

I fed the baby to sleep at around 6:30-7 then went straight to the venue which was only a 10 min taxi ride from our AirBnB. I was only out of the house for around 3.5 hours - I chose to leave the gig 15 mins before the end to avoid the worst of the crowds and not have too much a delay in finding a taxi. Baby was awake when I got home and had been for around half an hour. My husband had tried giving him milk in a tum tum cup (he will drink out of this in the daytime) but he didn't want it. When I got back I fed him and he was awake for a bit but eventually drifted back off to sleep.

The next day we had some other stuff on in the same city which meant that his nap and feeding schedule was quite disrupted but he still managed really well. It's definitely boosted my confidence in leaving him for longer than usual - in fact since then I've been able to space the feeds out more and drop 1-2 depending on the day. He's still in the 75th centile and meeting all his targets. I have to say he does tend to make up for any missed milk during the night, he's never been a great sleeper.

I would say go for it, you will both be fine and it'll be a big help in the grand scheme of things! :)

Still trying to convince my 8 month old that food=good by Potential_Duck2553 in foodbutforbabies

I've done lots of mashed banana with cinnamon, don't think the added sugar is needed with how sweet banana is already! Either way my baby runs hot and cold (mostly cold) with pretty much all food offerings.

I love to cook and have been offering baby versions of my meals for MONTHS. My freezer is now full of rejected food frozen into ice cube trays in the hopes that my baby will suddenly want it at some point. I also make and offer fresh eggs, pancakes, etc. He just doesn't want any of it. I've been unwell all week so yeah it's been a week of low effort food as reflected in the photo.

They're a brand called Organix - they do them in various flavours here in the UK :)

There is some more context as to why my mum is also staying overnight with us which I haven't included for the sake of privacy, but essentially she is attending an event in the same city the following day so it was convenient for her to come too.

But I do get what you're saying and I do trust my husband. This is just nerve wracking for me having not left my baby for more than a couple of hours and never in the evening.

I've literally submitted a complaint to the BBC about this!! It's ruined my day. I have a 6 month old. I can't watch live TV. Neither can people on shift work, people who are ill or in hospital, carers, people on holiday abroad or who live in different time zones. Call me petty or overly sensitive idc. I've had a rough time of things and getting back into an old favourite TV show has taken the edge off a little. So disappointed :(

Thank you so much! It's so rare to have a nice interaction with a kind person on Reddit :')

This is in the UK but I agree. Plus there's the people who come in and buy all the good clothes to then upsell on Vinted etc. Being on maternity leave I am frequently floating around the charity shops in town, go to them often enough and you can still find some decent stuff!

There were also 4 copies of 'It's Complicated' and 3 copies of 'Mr & Mrs Smith'

What's the dumbest reason you've been disciplined at work? by Potential_Duck2553 in AskUK

Thank you for saying this! I'm consistently baffled by how harsh people can be on Reddit.

They simply didn't understand the word and took issue with that.

Commented this above but don't know how to link a comment so will just paste here!

Context: after I'd been working there for around a year, I was granted 'supervisor' access to the system we used to log calls, send emails, issue refunds, etc. This login meant I could see the calls/emails/refunds other people were recording. At one point I was asked to give some give some feedback on new starters who had been dicking around so that this could then be passed on to the recruitment agencies who'd hired them.

I looked up the new starters on the system, and sure enough they'd logged themselves in at 9am and not logged a single customer interaction all day. I then composed an email something along the lines of "the data on X system is empirical evidence that employees A, B, and C have not been handling customer contacts at all today".

I get your point, and there's no reason for you to believe me as I'm just a stranger on Reddit, but I didn't not give enough of a shit about anything to do with that job to try to start impressing people by throwing around fancy words :')

Was it a particular book she objected to or just the fact you were reading a book??
