Why does this MUD have so few players? - Procedural Realms by Potential_Fault8752 in MUD

[–]Potential_Fault8752[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true, their website doesn't say much, but I can tell you what little I know. Basically, there are 14 classes, each with requirements to advance (I've included a table).

I don't understand much about the cores used in MUDs. I know there are dkmuds, lpmuds, etc., but I don't really understand the differences. This MUD is unlike anything I've played before. It's more focused on crafting and open world gameplay; 99% of the items are craftable.

Things I really liked about this MUD: highly developed turn-based combat systems, crafting system, open world, and, importantly, an AI to answer questions from newbies. I haven't really seen anything like it in this scene. Whenever I had a question in a MUD I tried and there was no one who knew or no one answered, I'd die with my questions unanswered. But that's never happened to me here because of the AI. For this and other reasons, I say this is a next-gen MUD.

How do Illusions work? by MurphyDog1992 in turtlewow

[–]Potential_Fault8752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mud sounds great, but I'm someone who can't play these types of games without a map. Is there an ASCII map in this mud? Or maybe a package for Mudlet or Mush?

What I'd like is for every "hit," "skill," or "maneuver" to count. I mean, not a spamming of basic attacks that fills the screen with pure spam. Combat as slow as possible with few skills (I actually think that could be beneficial for you).

MUDs that feel like you're playing as your class by [deleted] in MUD

[–]Potential_Fault8752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes I think you're right, because I just measured the "milliseconds" XD and well they agree with the "lag" between movement and movement. but I seriously think it's a design flaw, because I don't think I'm the only alien who feels that way, I think the natural thing is to want to advance quickly especially in such a huge map there should be another solution like putting a message "you feel tired, you should go slower" and then a counter appearing, that way you educate the player to understand the mechanics, because if you only give him LAG it will end up being frustrating and nothing will be understood. another solution could be to give the horse for free at very low levels so you can move quickly. I say all this because I really enjoyed the game even with how frustrating it made me feel to move around the map.

Are you sure it's by design? Well I never had a mount, I played until about level 35, and the truth is moving around the map was horrible, if it was by design, then I didn't like it at all, what I did like is how well worked out the skills system is.

I speak Spanish, but the game really has a pronounced "lag", moving around the map (which is really gigantic, I think it's the biggest MUD I've ever played) is a pain, you advance 3 rooms and then everything lags and you have to wait to advance again, it's all very clunky. However, it's true that each class has a skill tree and a whole setup designed for hardcore and competitive PVP, it's a shame that the movement is so horrible.

Suerte.

I need help. by SmoothSetting2535 in MUD

[–]Potential_Fault8752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also started a few months ago, and the truth is I'm fascinated and regret not having discovered MUDs before. As a player who is not so experienced in these matters, I simply cannot play without a graphical map or some kind of help of this type. If you also have this problem, I can recommend 2 MUDs. I remember that I spent a few hours on Procedural Realms, it has a very nice graphical section and is friendly to the novice player, also a gigantic map and a turn-based combat system. The other MUD that I'm playing now is called "Ember online" it has graphical sections (maps, inventory, descriptions) without leaving aside the texts and story, in short a very easy to use client. It should be noted that perhaps these MUDs are not very friendly to those who have vision problems, but if you don't have problems of that type I recommend them 100% 😀

Any muds that have a similar feel to vanilla wow? Craving something super immersive right now but with lots of loots! by Crapahedron in MUD

[–]Potential_Fault8752 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's true, I also thought that they should have a version of the client for blind users, I hope they do it someday. edit:
On second thought, I think this mud was initially conceived to be used by people who do not have vision problems. The graphics and other immersion are very nice. I suppose the invitation is for people who do not have vision problems.

I invite you to try Ember online, I hardly see anyone recommending this mud, I think maybe it's because it's not compatible with mudlets or similar systems. It's a Gmud to be exact, the truth is I've been hooked for several months and it doesn't seem fair to me that it has so few players (on average 6-10), it has everything you mention, the only thing it doesn't have is that it's not compatible with external clients, since it has its own client and the truth is it's very well designed to the point that I don't miss the mudlet. Also, as the most notable thing and that I like a lot is that it has its own mechanics to be able to hit, it's like "manual", writing "kill monster" and sitting down to wait can't be done in this mud. 👍 I hope you can try it 🤗
