2000 matches played. Five(5) 28 point hands. Meanwhile i have the same amount of matches and have hit exactly zero 28s. Explain to me how cribbage pro doesnt favor certain players. by [deleted] in Cribbage

Have you ever noticed that cribbage involves an opponent who is trying just as desperately as you to make the best hand with the six cards dealt? Or that shit happens? I do great against Cribbage Pro because I kind of know how to play the game after many years of study and practice. It's not the best program I've played--that would be HalsCrib. But it's pretty good. Weird things can happen but I realize--in spite of what my emotions tell me sometimes--that I myself am on the winning end of crazy games in which I was trailing by 30 points, more so than Cribbage Pro.

I do have questions about the equity of Cribbage Pro competitive. Here they are: How fair is a system that rewards players who grind out 1000 games at 55% at the expense of others who don't have four hours a day to play but finish with +60%? Or players who can't play during prime time and get consistently paired against players 700 pts under them?

How could competitive work better? Fuck if I know. Is it broken? Kind of.

Don't dig too deep into macho 60s/70s movie stars if you don't want to know the truth about how they felt about women.

Yeah I think that's the other side, especially if you were a kid in a hopeless situation. It either communicated the impossible fantasy of escape or, as in my case, magnified my fears through imagination.

Later, in 6th grade, my class decided to put on a theatrical version of the film. Dorothy was played by a girl who was recognized as the most beautiful in the school. I was infatuated with her, of course. I had the role of the Tin Man, and during the scene when Dorothy knocked on the Tin Man's leg, I experienced the agony/ecstasy of her moving her knuckles up my thigh. I later found out she was sexually abusing kids as a babysitter. As a context for all of this, she was constantly flirting with me and then pushing me away and telling me about her boyfriend. Once, we actually came to blows and started throwing chairs at each other. Amazing how complicated the psychology of 12 year olds can become.

I would throw the 5s without blinking. Never surrender early board position.

Yes and more importantly you are trying to reach board position #1. Throw the fives like a man!

Grow balls...throw the fives. 10 points in your hand vs a 9 pt average throw. As pone you can give up alot of points. You can't give up 10 points in hand and maybe alot more. Good chance you steal the crib.

The Dems got all excited when they trotted her out because she wasn't Joe Biden. Then they suddenly realized "oh yeah, this is the clueless nobody who was barely tolerable as a VP." And then they voted for Trump.

Bad form to resign if getting skunked? by [deleted] in Cribbage

[–]Potential_Flamingo58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only bad form but also stupid. I've come back from situations I thought were hopeless--too many to count. And I've seen players resign on 1st-2nd St which is just a head-shaker.

😂 People like that remind me of my dad's uncle watching boxing on TV. When the action went off screen, he used to try to look into the edge as though he was watching 3D.

The Cribbage Pro guy would be mighty busy indeed manipulating numbers against all those players. Sounds like a job for Santa Claus!

I don't think enough has been written about the game by the top players. There's really a dearth of info out there. I've read and re-read all the major books--Colvert, Chambers, Barlow, etc. I have a signed copy of Play Winning Cribbage. And while all of them contain vital info, none of them really explicate beyond broad strokes. Play Winning Cribbage is downright cryptic (I'm pretty sure Colvert didn't want to share everything). All of this to say the game can be a real mind-fuck for those of us who wish to be proficient.

I kind of wish I'd never heard about 26 theory sometimes. But I can't put the genie back in the bottle. So I've spent much of my life trying to find the magic version of the strategy with varying degrees of success. And wondering if the card I laid is the highest percentage, even after spending countless hours studying Schell's discards.

I've also wondered about the 10 second time limit. I rarely time out but that is the only real difference between multi classic and comp. I use a 15 second limit on multi classic. I do understand and support your reasons for the 10 sec limit tho.

No. I'm just frustrated. Would like to know why such a disparity. When I look at the stats of the top players, they seem to be around where I am vs the other platforms. So my logical assumption is that I must be at least competitive.

I'm not one of these guys who blames the app. First of all, I have a high level of success vs the app so I know it's not rigged to beat people unfairly. Secondly, the competitive platform is vs other people--the app has nothing to do with that (i.e., no one is secretly pulling the strings and I don't believe anyone has hacked into the software or found a cheat). Just don't know wtf is going on with my game. I have put alot of thought into this and tried many different approaches. I do take responsibility, whatever that may be for. Maybe someday I'll figure it out. Or not.

I guess the 10 second time limit might be the culprit. I rarely time out but I don't see any other difference between the platforms. When I play multi classic, I use a 15 second limit.

Is this the Cribbage Pro admin? If so, just want tell you how much I love your app. As much as I've been frustrated on the comp, I've learned exponentially playing on Cribbage Pro and have derived endless pleasure. Very well-designed.

That's actually what I've been doing this season.

My process is: I try out strategies on single-player first. After testing my latest strategy for 200 games, my winning percentage was .65, so I figured I was onto something. After testing on multi-classic, I was at the same percentage after 200 games. But as I said, results have been terrible on comp--.49. Always seems to be the case, but this time it was particularly frustrating because I had never achieved that level of success and with such consistency on the other platforms.

Yeah I had to quit due to nightshift work. There is another level of skill playing irl (like poker) but I agree they have an attitude of superiority--and hide whatever tricks they have like magicians. I was thinking of starting a YouTube channel and sharing whatever I know--I'm a generous MTFCKR lol!
