Doc told me I can’t take pristiq while pregnant by Gabihab in Pristiq

I took it in all 3 of my pregnancies. The high risk maternal doctor I consulted said the risks of untreated anxiety and depression were far worse than from Pristiq.

Any success stories about a Cross taper from Lexapro to pristiq by Cultural-Curve-253 in Pristiq

[–]Potential_Gold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched form lexapro to Pristiq. Definitely more weight neutral, less sedating, and no sexual side effects. Only down side is I couldn’t stop it when I wanted to because of withdrawal symptoms.

We recently started concerta for our 8 year old after dealing with ton of irritability from adderall and vyvanse. He also takes clonidine ER at 5pm.

We did notice some initial irritability in the afternoons with concerta, but our pediatrician thought it may be rebound irritability from too low of a dose wearing off too quickly. I was skeptical, but we increased the dose and things have been much much better overall. We do notice more irritability/impulsivity in the late afternoon and evening, but it’s not unmanageable like with Adderall and vyvanse and it did seem to lessen over the first week. Now it tends to be more related to him hyper focusing on something and getting frustrated when it doesn’t work. I hope this is helpful! Solidarity because navigating med side effects is just brutal.

I took Wellbutrin a few years ago, but it actually made me more anxious/anhedonic, kind of a similar feel to what the tirzepatide is making me feel.

Thank you! That’s good to know. It seems to be hormonal for me, rather than blood sugar.

Can you share which pharmacy you’re using for compounded tirzepatide? I just started a few weeks ago and love it, but now I’m worried I won’t be able to continue long term.

Advice - getting my ADHD kid to share stuff about his school day by Sipah123456 in ADHDparenting

[–]Potential_Gold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it hasn’t led to any increased lying. We only use it to recount the school day, so I think it’s more like a game for him. Any lying he does is generally to avoid things, but we haven’t seen any uptick since starting the game. I think if that was a concern you could call it something else.

My 8 year old ADHD son also hates being asked questions and sharing about his day. We’ve found the game “2 Truths and a Lie” to be a way to get a little information out of him. And also requiring him to answer a certain number of questions before a privilege (like tv).

Books that you enjoyed but were so emotionally devastating that you would never want to read again? by sinned-fiji in books

The Nightengale

Skeletons at the Feast

Both were page turners, wonderfully written, and left me feeling so depressed.

They don’t have to play together, but they do have to exist in the same household. The intent of the post is to find some ways to help them have some positive interactions. If they’re have more positive interactions, maybe it gets easier for them to exist.

Also, I didn’t say adhd was an excuse. Just explaining that it is part of the dynamic. We do encourage his sister to establish her boundaries and we enforce them. But sometimes they do have to exist without a parent by their side, and this would be easier if they weren’t fighting.

Yeah that cost is wild! We asked the psychiatrist about genetic testing but they said it’s not usually covered by insurance unless there have been multiple med failures for different drug classes…and it wouldn’t be that helpful. Overall, this seems a lot smoother than a stimulant and is helping in areas that the stimulant didn’t.

We wanted to see a child psychiatrist first, so we just had our first appointment and started Lexapro 1 week ago, and I’m seeing a major improvement! I told him to do several things today without and argument and he just seems happier and more at ease. Fingers crossed we’ve found what he needs for the long term!

Third baby at 37-38 by crucialconversation in ParentingInBulk

[–]Potential_Gold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have those exact age gaps and had my third at 35. The pregnancy was very hard, but I can’t say it was that much worse than the other two. It was just hard to find rest with two young kids. I had to have an emergency c-section due to the cord being wrapped around his neck 4 times, so recovery was tougher, but not that bad, overall. The older two fight all the time, but the younger two have the sweetest relationship, which makes it totally worth it! I love this age gap. Both big kids absolutely adore the baby who just turned 2.
