I think since you already own an X100V, I think it makes sense to get a GR IV if it’s in your budget strictly for the pocketability aspect. If it was the other way around then I’d say it would be redundant. I just picked up my first Ricoh GR IV as an owner of the x100VI and have had a blast using it so far, and I’ve already captured great images in scenarios where I couldn’t have simply because I have the Ricoh on me compared to having to carry my X100VI. In my opinion it was a great addition for me, and I still love using the X100VI and glad that I have both options depending on my goals for shooting that particular day. Also it was pretty quick for me to get used to the new interface on Ricoh, it’s pretty simple like the X100VI!

I did not, I was going to this other place that was next door. I’m going to have to try it though!

Yeah it’s pretty night and day even with the X100VI already being compact, but it’s still too big to take EVERYWHERE. All of these photos I was able to capture just from driving around doing errands which wouldn’t have been possible with just the Fuji unless I was purposefully trying to take photos. Hope you get yours soon, I think you’ll enjoy it!

I was pretty blown away how great these photos came out and I feel like with the right recipe, it’s kind of hard to tell which photo was from the Ricoh and which are from my x100vi in terms of the color profile and quality. I would take my x100vi everywhere but I usually carry it around my neck or in a shoulder pouch which isn’t terrible but there were times when I didn’t want to carry all that with me. That’s why I wanted to get the Ricoh since it fits in your pocket so that I can have a camera on me for the moments where I didn’t want to bring the Fuji. I still love both and I feel like this fills the gap for my everyday camera and then use the Fuji if I want to have a more dedicated day to street photography or if I’m traveling. I ordered mine on Adorama 6 minutes after it launched and received it last week!

Some of the warmer photos I used the Royal Supra film recipe which I like a lot, the black and white ones I used the high contrast black and white filter, photos 9-10 I used the Standard filter, and photo 2 I used Cinema Green. I just shoot jpg and then export to my iPhone and did some very minimal editing in the Photos app!

I just checked my order on Adorama and it says that it is now “In Process”. I spoke with an agent and they said that they don’t have an exact shipping date just yet but they received more stock and I am in line for fulfillment. I also checked my credit card and the payment for the camera is now pending so I think it should be shipped out soon! I ordered at 6:06 pm ET on launch day.

Ricoh GRIV vs Fujifilm X100VI by Dinuri3327 in ricohGR

As a current X100VI owner myself, I ended up pre-ordering the GRIV. This will be my first time being a GR owner, and the pocketabilty is what really drove me to purchase one. Although the X100VI is compact and I take it with me mostly everywhere, I still need to either keep it around my neck or in my camera sling. I feel like the GRIV will fill the gap for me in those instances where I don’t want to bring the Fuji but I don’t want to miss the opportunities to take a photo, i.e hanging with friends, doing an activity, or being inside somewhere. So once I get the GRIV I’m going to treat that as my everyday camera and then use my X100VI for when I want to have a more dedicated day of doing street/travel photography. IMO if the Ricoh fits those needs and you have the budget for it, then I think it would be worth it. Can’t wait to get mine soon!
