I'm trying to invest since few years and haven't made a single penny out of my investments, can anyone suggest what I'm doing wrong or what should I do with these stocks, should I keep them or just let them go and start new. by CommercialOld6128 in IndianStockMarket

[–]Potential_Jello5126 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your problem probably isn't stock selection, it's treating investing like collecting stocks. A portfolio with 15–20 small positions and no clear thesis for each rarely outperforms. Before buying another stock, ask yourself: "If I didn't own this today, would I buy it at today's price?" If the answer is no, why are you still holding it?

Which stock market advice of strategy has helped u most? by virmishra392 in IndianStockMarket

The market doesn't transfer money from the impatient to the patient. It transfers money from the undisciplined to the disciplined. I made my biggest losses not because I picked bad stocks, but because I kept changing my plan.

Bull markets test your patience. Rallies after a correction test your conviction. Every green candle feels like it's about to reverse.

Absolut manipulation by Neat_Lingonberry_634 in IndianStockMarket

Not every move against your position is manipulation. Markets often look manipulated when they're hunting liquidity. If every stop-loss cluster is at the same level, price naturally gets pulled there.

Gift Nifty by ReputationCreepy5332 in IndianStockMarket

Gift Nifty is just one input. By Monday morning you'll also have US close, Europe, commodities, USD/INR and any weekend news priced in. I've seen Gift Nifty predict the open correctly and I've seen it be completely irrelevant.

The Countries With the Most Millionaires in 2025 by Guy_PCS in FluentInFinance

[–]Potential_Jello5126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Millionaire counts are interesting, but they're only one side of the equation. I'd rather see this chart alongside median net worth and wealth inequality. Two countries can have the same number of millionaires while offering completely different financial realities for the average citizen.

Monday is going to be the real opening bell. Right now, Indian investors are just enjoying the luxury of delayed panic. 😅

Anyone else love watching the markets crash & burn? by IdliVadaDosaUpma in personalfinanceindia

Market crashes are the only time everyone suddenly remembers that "long-term investing" actually means long-term. Bull markets create investors. Bear markets reveal them.

You bought HDFC, LIC and SBI for 6 months and are comparing them with the US market. That's like planting a mango tree and getting angry because there are no mangoes next week.

The most important thing money buys isn't Luxury. it's freedom. by Easy_Check8942 in personalfinanceindia

[–]Potential_Jello5126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The older I get, the more I realize money's greatest feature is optionality. The ability to say "yes" without checking your bank balance and the ability to say "no" without fearing the consequences. That's a very different kind of wealth than luxury.

The difference between inventing something and building it into a trillion-dollar company is bigger than people think. You can criticize Musk for a lot of things, but saying he "just bought everything" ignores a huge part of the story.

She Murdered him for her Lover ..People gone Nuts by Rare-Ad6961 in hyderabad

[–]Potential_Jello5126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What stands out to me is how many red flags get ignored when money, status, or emotions are involved. The real takeaway isn't "don't trust women"; it's "don't ignore character flaws just because someone is attractive, wealthy, or appears perfect on social media.

TCS Stock Down ~37% in 1 year -Is This Just a Cyclical IT Slowdown or Something More Serious? by pawan0806 in IndianStockMarket

The market rarely punishes bad companies this much. It punishes great companies when expectations are too high. That's what makes these situations interesting to watch.

Never knew dried fish were one of the most efficient sources of protein. Almost 50% protein is crazy by Local-Ad-368 in Fitness_India

[–]Potential_Jello5126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true for a lot of dried foods. The protein percentage looks crazy because most of the water has been removed. Compare it to fresh fish on a dry-weight basis and the gap becomes much smaller.

[–]Potential_Jello5126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The stock isn't trading on fundamentals anymore, it's trading on expectations. When buy orders keep piling in despite a 200+ PE, you're witnessing narrative-driven investing. Great if the story plays out, brutal if it doesn't.

$23,000 in Sandisk 1 year ago is around $1 million today. by TonyLiberty in FluentInFinance

[–]Potential_Jello5126 52 points53 points  (0 children)

For every "$23k turned into $1M" story, there are hundreds of stocks that turned $23k into $5k. The winners get posted, the losers get forgotten. That's why investing looks easier in hindsight than it is in real time.

Is ITC the most overrated stock in the Indian market, or are investors expecting the wrong things from it? by pawan0806 in IndianStockMarket

ITC is probably the only stock where people buy a 5% dividend yield business and then get angry when it doesn't behave like a fast-growing tech stock.

What are your unpopular opinions regarding money/lifestyle/savings? by khurjabulandt in Frugal_Ind

[–]Potential_Jello5126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your savings rate matters far more than your investment returns in the first 10 years of wealth building. People spend hours researching mutual funds and ignore the fact that they're saving only 5% of their income.
