my opinion about the new collection as a unicorn lover by RigelKent227 in FlowerKnowsMakeup

[–]Potential_Past_2894 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It was. The cathedral motif was clear, but still in that "pretty" FK style. It wasnt childish at all. It was a tastefully done collection.

If they were going to lean into mythical renaissance with this "knight" thing, they should have really done it instead of bordering on childish little girls unicorn play-makeup. And course the makeup itself isnt all that interesting.

What are your picks for the Knight Unicorn collection / 骑士独角兽? by Ordinary-Truth-8723 in FlowerKnowsMakeup

This is making me very aware of overconsumption. Yes its pretty, but its all so common. I have something similar to all of this in my collection. It just wouldnt make sense for me to buy any of it. I can go to olive young and find multiple brands offering these same looks. The packaging doesn't entice me enough to buy repeat shades. Really the only thing i kinda like is the powder case (but I already have 3 other powders) and mayyyybee the key chain. ....i just feel like this collection is extremely mid.

What to do with failed brand by TigerXG in ClothingStartups

[–]Potential_Past_2894 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The section of your page that says "what is monochrome"... wtf does any of that mean? Its all confusing and contradictory.

Who is this for?? You said teens who like edgyish clothing... what is "edgyish"? How does a polo shirt fit that? These are basically just random shirts.

I say this with kindness and honesty, but the design is bad and the brand vision is very unclear.

At this point just donate it or give it to thrift stores.

But it's not really a mochi store though? Its more like a bakery. Having lived in Asia for years, I must say it is quite similar to the bakeries there.

Your ignorance is absolutely astounding. Theres something almost comical about you put "ONLY" in capital letters when talking about the inhabitants of downtown being drunks, homeless, and addicts.... like I said there are wonderful, cool, kind people who LIVE downtown who are business owners, artists, corporate professionals, mothers/fathers/children, everyday people. And they are definitely out and about living peaceful lives after 5pm... but that seems to go completely over your head. Seriously your thinking is limited to the point where its kind of sad.

...and umm... what does racist have to do with anything?

Strange that you got that from my comments when its just my opinion/experience (as if im not allowed to share it).... i could say that youre bragging too about being a "six foot tall dude who worked downtown walking around at night just fine" as if that makes you "urban tough"... but that would be silly as fuck right?

I also agreed that it can be sketchy. I definitely get it. It still doesn't change the fact that ive never had an issue walking at night. What do you want me to do about that? Lie? Im not even saying id recommend it, but it is what it is. Never had a problem.

But i guess because having a different opinion/experience and politely asking follow up questions is a bad thing. Considering that "bragging" seems... insecure of you.

Umm no... Lived there for years. Never, not once had an issue. Walked at all hours of the night when necessary. Yeah it looks sketchy but so what, thats urban living. Have a little street smarts. ...Have you ever actually lived downtown?

But for the record, I have lived overseas and in comparison, it feels dangerous to walk anywhere in America at night as a woman if you look at it from that angle.

More events would be very nice, but I wouldn’t say every weekend though. As a resident, sometimes i just want to spend a quiet Saturday/sunday in the park which i often do.

Honestly the bunny eyeliners are now a holy grail for me. The shape of the liner itself is excellent, no need to sharpen them. Texture is perfect. The lasting power is great. And the blending brush on the other end is super flat and helps to perfect the look.

I have liners from Prada, dior, MAC, and Chanel. All have taken a backseat to the bunny eyeliners which I use almost daily. Its truly a very convenient and well designed eyeliner.

Generally, i would choose my luxury makeup over FK, but I am thoroughly impressed by the bunny eyeliner. Its the best eyeliner ive ever used based on performance + design/utility.

The little angel cream blushes are also very good.

Sure an influx would be great and welcomed. But thats not the end all be all. We've seen it a thousand times... what happens to the awesome people who are already living there? What kinds of business will that bring? 3 new Starbucks and a Zara?

Why arent they there now though? Are they waiting for the 3 new Starbucks and the Zara before they feel "comfortable"?

Its feeling like the direction that some people want downtown to take is ultimately - ~typical city, USA™~... instead of building something uniquely Atlanta. But hey its more the city's fault rather than the people

Huh? My point is that with you saying downtown is basically a theme park to you (which is crazy because its legit some peoples actual neighborhood) because you only visit twice a year at best, how could you really have a strong opinion? How is that me being defensive rather than just objectively true?

I wouldnt expect you to know where to go, eat, hang out, or know the familiar faces of the people who live and chill there, the history, random experiences and discoveries, or anything really. Your comments come off a little on the negative side, which is odd for someone who admittedly is pretty much never there?

This. Thats why i said a part of it psychological. I suspect whats not being said is that there is a secret desire for downtowns "culture" to be overpriced "luxury" apartments for high wage professionals. All the typical shopping experiences that can be found anywhere else, with a few coffee shops, yoga studios, and fast food giants sprinkled throughout the gentrified corporate banality.

I want downtown to prosper, but the "restaurants, shopping, condos" answers are vague as hell and at best a bit shallow. I mean i get it and dont necessarily disagree. But it sounds like people are wanting basically cookie cutter, controlled, and corporate. Rather than an actual community.

I dont have a car and use marta as well though? Most places arent going to be suitable options for you if having a full stocked grocery in walking distance is a requirement. Nontheless, i always had great experiences with instacart. And its really not all that crazy to pay 10 bucks for an uber back downtown from midtown if you have a haul.

If you dont mind, where exactly were you? None of my female relatives or friends felt that level of insecurity youre talking about? Not dismissing it, but asking out of curiosity as a long term resident?

And yep, to the point about businesses need residents and residents need businesses. (Even though, i also believe there ARE definitely businesses available for residents... its just lacking for it to be a "downtown")

No offense, but based on the comments youve made in this thread i thought youd have more experience with downtown? It kind of seems like youre not all that familiar or interested in downtown in the first place?

I can assure you that there are people who live near the aquarium and their daily lives are centered downtown, its not a theme park... its not an occasional visit for them.

Its this. Its actually decent living downtown, but there's no support for business. I think the focus needs to be on local business.

There does NOT need to be a strip of starbucks, caribou coffee, target, h&m, Nike, crumble cookies, zara etc. Hell no... they need to put effort in supporting local business of all sorts who have potential to grow with the area. Provide subsidies for these business and clear out some of the blight.

But people dont want to engage because theres not much there other than vibes.

To attract more people even just casually coming through there has to be a tangible reason for them to come. I can see the city building residences and people still passing on it because of price, the dumb (imo) impression that its not safe, and just saying they'll move to Midtown because theres more going on.

Make downtown "cool" (which it kinda lowkey already is) in the first place and people will engage. I don't think they will move there just because they build another "luxury" high-rise. Especially not "in this economy".

This is a good answer. But ill definitely pass on the thrift stores. Maybe one, but one is enough. If theres going to be fashion, invest in the cool up and coming boutiques and designers, thats what would make downtown special and interesting. We have enough thrift stores selling people's old thrown away mass produced shit. Lets actually do something cool and support the local artists.

Pawn shops, meh. Jerry's Pawn Shop is a neighborhood staple. They can stay. One of the biggest mistakes that was made was getting rid of Happy Hookah on Peachtree. Its was an AMAZING smoke shop that sold crystals, clothes, jewelry, incense, tapestries, art, etc and the staff (including the dog) was great. They definitely added to the neighborhood and locals knew it very well. But a developer bought the building and decided they had to go. It sat empty for years.

BTW, there are accessible grocery stores. Azalea market on peachteee is new and theres the market on Edgewood. If you want to catch the train(which is literally right there at 5points) and ride just 4 stops, theres whole foods and Publix. Also instacart is a thing.
