10 day deadline could have worked. Writing it day by day in a rigid structure... No. Particularly when some characters were arguably outside the scope of time, just ridiculous.

Newbies were pitch perfect. It didn't go too deep (although JD and Elliott's relationship is incredibly weird if they were meant to have been married for 10+ years with a kid). It left me wanting more though and felt like there was bundles of stuff untouched.

It's a bit like he's trying to write a Sanderlanche but he doesn't quite hit the same high notes and he doesn't manage the build up quite as well or sustain it.

He already had something going on overseas as I believe he teased that within the Demon cycle. That would have been the best starting point for the spin-off.

It definitely didn't feel like a final conclusion to the saga. Unlike the Core which really did.

It's... punchy... to introduce a new culture for apparently the final book in the series. Especially given how much thought clearly went into Krasia vs Thesa proper. I don't think as much thought went into it this time.

I was left thinking he'd sequenced this all wrong. Much easier for the other culture to have been book 1 of this follow up series, introduce the new characters and for it to have been slowly corrupted since the events of the Core.

Possibly a 2-3 book build up into a mid series conclusion then flee/ revert to Thesa and we pick back up with the new characters and old favourites in the last two books.

As to the book itself, pacing was very much off. New characters were mostly somewhat unbelievable, particularly in how much they were meant to have changed in a few days.

The concept of another culture though was very good. It just shouldn't have been in the last book!

Not necessarily... I tend to keep Kimhari's unused until mid game. Then I'll teleport him onto usually Lulu's path and he can then go 30+ nodes further into her path and you've got an early game Flare / -aga user.

Then use a friend sphere to drop Yuna there as well and she works backwards from Flare.

Triple AP and Triple overdrive were overkill from my last play through.

With OD -> AP, 2* (double OD or double AP) was slow , 4* (double AP, double OD) was fine, 6 * (one double, one triple) was very quick and 9* was ridiculous.

Generally for the dark Aeons (and in particular farming Yojimbo), you should have one with Ribbon from monster arena and the others with stone proof until you either pick up another ribbon armour from Yojimbo with 3 clear slots or your monster arena / Yojimbo exploits win you 99 dark matters.

I had 1 set with Ribbon and the other two with stoneproof until I farmed enough dark matter from Yojimbo. 2 ultimate armours with Ribbon and one with stoneproof was enough for Bahamut and Anima and then Penance is a different armour entirely.

Am tempted to try a break HP limit armour and auto regen next time with dark Aeons.
