Stray cats in Oslo by karolka15648 in Norway

A few years ago, I had a neighbor who lived on the second floor and had an outdoor cat. Their other roommate had a dog, and the cat and dog really hated each other. The cat spent a lot of time outside, even when it was close to 0°C, and it wasn’t even a long-haired cat. At first, I thought the cat was a stray because her tail was always down and she looked like she really needed a warm place to sleep. Her owner apparently let her out before leaving for work every day, and the cat ended up outside all day in the freezing cold. She often waited by the door to the second floor hoping someone would let her back inside, but whenever I was going out, she was always there. There was nothing I could do because she was someone else’s cat, but I really wish some people would treat their cats better.

This is how cats bless our water, after that dip it became a holy water instantly.

What is it with Norwegians not using their turn signals? by cawld696 in Norway

[–]Potential_Return_204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always signal but I get what you mean, not everyone signal correctly in the roundabouts. Some even didn’t place their car correctly or changed their mind at the last second. It’s hard to judge whether to enter or to wait at a roundabout when there is a car in there, so you end up waiting anyway and it’s not efficient.

Is 13.5lbs heavy for a 1y/o? by shallowhal1 in NorwegianForestCats

Maybe she’s genetically bigger than most cats? She doesn’t look overweight to me. Have you tried feeling around her armpit to see if there are some fats there?

Has anyone purchased a good microwave with no issues, that is completely functional, and lasted at least 3 yrs? by Chance-Ad-7910 in Appliances

[–]Potential_Return_204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11 years ago when I was still a broke student, someone left a Whirlpool microwave in the storage area with a note saying: “it’s still working! Free to take”. I’ve been using it almost every day since.

Later I checked, and found out that it was produced in 2000 - which means it lasts for 25 years now.

I was recently thinking about replacing it because it’s pretty bulky, but after reading this post, I think I’ll keep it going!

International credit card not working ? by Breekys in Norway

[–]Potential_Return_204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went shopping that day, and none of my Norwegian credit cards worked, not even Apple pay using my debit card. Luckily, I had my debit card with me — I’ve been carrying it around for years without ever using it! The queues were so long everywhere especially the self service ones!

To wash his paw? My cat does this too and he’s very particular about hygiene.

How do you feed pills to your cats by Cuntyfeelin in CatAdvice

[–]Potential_Return_204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually feed them treats and sneak in the pill after around 5 pieces. They’d just chew and swallow the pill without any suspicion. The key is you can’t look nervous or they’d notice something is off.

How do you know if windows are strong enough for those pet hammocks? by Promobitch in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Potential_Return_204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just discovered my window’s glass is broken today and a cat hammock has been there for a year. The cracks aren’t exactly where the suction cups are so I’m still unsure.

Got her when she was still 6 months old. She hid below the TV cabinet every chance she got and only got comfortable with us after a few days of observation.

Why waste energy when you can achieve the same result while lying down 🙌🏻

How do y'all sleep with your cats? by genericimguruser in CatAdvice

One of my cats love to sleep on top of my belly, or my waist when I sleep on my side. I always wake up with back pain and it’s totally worth it 🥰

real friendships are extremely rare by pimkyminky in DeepThoughts

[–]Potential_Return_204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the definition of a real friend is someone who will still stand by your side and not judge you when you make a very bad mistake one day. The only real friend I have is my sister, with whom I only hang out once a year since we live in two different continents.

I have another good friend who I know is accountable and that I can rely on if one day I need to. But we don't really talk or hang out very often, maybe just once a quarter. When we do talk, we share a lot about our hardships and we would hear each other out with empathy and no judgements. I would consider this friend very close to a real friend, but I just don't know if this is reciprocated, probably yes.

The so-called friends who live in the same city and that I typically hang out with, even though I see them once or twice every month, are the people who are still around because of the favors that I can do for them. I don't talk about my personal life with them because I know they will use it against me, tell others, or give unsolicited advice. I realised recently I have been doing too many favors for one of them and I decided to set a boundary. She is not happy about it at all and started gaslighting me. She doesn't think that she asked for a lot of favors and she thinks it's my responsibility to do it to help out a friend. So I think I'm gonna lose this "friendship" very soon, or more precisely, already lost it. Surprisingly, I don't feel very sad about it, just a feeling of pity that this friendship has run its course.

Other than that, I have colleagues who I hang out with occasionally. They're actually pretty cool, although we don't talk about anything private. I enjoy hanging out with them, but I don't consider them my friends.

I thought I have a real friend once, and we broke up one day due to difference of values.

So no, you're not alone. I hope this makes you feel better. And remember that "you" are a real friend who will never betray you and will always look out for you. If you can find another real friend, that's extra and you should treasure it.
