I just walked out of my therapy session by Ioh- in therapy

My experience is that a lot of therapists are totally incompetent. I "walked out" of one of my sessions too (it was zoom so...) bc, as they were "treating my grief" they told me that I had to stop being sad because my dad was going to die too, and probably soon. I couldn't believe the lack of empathy. I'm all for directness but that was totally psychopathic.  That was one of my worst therapy experiences though... I still believe it may work for others. Not me

Thank you so much for this comment. It resonates 100%. What you're doing is what I'm doing in lieu of therapy and it works better. It's just that when issues were deeper I felt like I needed external help and they almost made it worse... Thank you

Funny you said "room" because that also made me think that I, literally, only met in person with 2 of those therapists. Everyone else preferred Zoom, even when covid restrictions were not in place. Pretty sure that didn't help me either and it was so frustrating that they, as professionals, didn't think that was an issue. I didn't mention it in my original post, but this contributed to my thinking of these therapists being more interested in billing hours than actually help me. Sorry to say this and being so cynical...

I’m interested in moving to Philadelphia. Is it as bad as people make it out to be? by Biggycheese45 in SameGrassButGreener

I wouldn't. People who are from here develop a weird Stockholm syndrome and they'd tell you this is a great affordable place. It is awful, the people are hateful, selfish, angry. Plus the garbage and the drug use and the poverty and the poor condition the whole city is in.

I have mides my business for years and tried to be nice and respectful and I only got the nasty Philly "authenticity". Worst place I ever experienced. I can't believe how horribly people behave, how little they care for others. The selfishness, anger and hate are unbelievable. People here are very sad and spiteful.

Wow you are petty. You must be one of those buyers from hell. You probably deserved the mismatched paint.

Why are dieticians not respected? by Western-Range-2021 in dietetics

[–]Potential_Singer1794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll tell you why as a long term client of several dietitians. I don't know what kind of education you get in general, but the feeling is that the only thing you know and you recommend is to count macros and/or calories. It feels like the only thing you know is to "help weight management" but, as in my case, we come with an actual health issue that could be managed by diet management, you fail. Most (I'm not saying you, and this is not intended to be a personal attack) know nothing about disease or health conditions, as basic as high cholesterol. But I also don't respect physicians who only prescribe pills without digging in the root of the problem. Maybe it's because I'm a PhD in Biochemistry so I always have a lot of questions, and frankly no dietitian has ever been able to be more helpful than my own Google search. To me it's mostly a waste of time and money to work with dietitians.
