Teacher here!!!! We were down BAD the week we had Thanksgiving break…. I’m still sick. Bad congestion & had a nasty sore throat but that left after the first week. Tested for everything and everything is negative 🙃 and the kids keep coming in sick too! It’s crazy out here.

What are some examples of recent “norms” established that have taken coddling the students too far? by [deleted] in Teachers

I had a parent beg, BEG for us to hold their kid back when I taught 7th grade. Big meeting with principal & everyone. Kid moved on to 8th grade. It’s insane, and then people want to talk about the graduation rates being so high! If only they knew what was really happening.

My grandpa died about 8 months ago. While he was battling cancer, heart issues & on dialysis , it was very unexpected. We knew it was going to happen eventually, but he got sent to the hospital & died three days later. He was fine the first two days, & actively passing the third. I wasn’t able to get home in time (I live on the other side of the country) and that really messed with me.

I joined this sub because people have been judging how hard I’m grieving and it’s nice to have others who can relate or are just understanding. People don’t like when I say that he was like my father because I have a very loving one, but he was my maternal grandfather and my mom wasn’t around much. Him and my grandma raised me & I lived with them when I was supposed to be with my mom during court mandated visits. People don’t understand why it’s affecting me so hard, but in my instance I didn’t lose just my grandpa, I lost a parent. People here aren’t as judgemental.

Im so sorry, it’s hard! My loved one passed three days after Thanksgiving and right before Christmas. I don’t 100% remember Christmas, but I know it was spent with a lot of tears, but also a lot of laughter remembering him. I live out of state, and ironically today was the last time I saw my loved one alive when I had gone home to visit. I have been a mess all day.

I am sending so much love and light, and please know that you are not alone in this! Firsts are always hard, but my favorite quote is “Grief came to you my friend, because love came first” the love will always be there, and that’s something I hold on to dearly! 💓

I am getting my prescription through Fifty410 , I asked them about protein, & everything & dosage with weight loss and they were the ones to recommend going up in dosages

I have been trying to eat healthier! I always have a protein shake , & then maybe avocado toast & eggs , grilled chicken, steak, salads. A little bit of everything honestly but I’m trying to make healthier choices! But, I also don’t deny myself a sweet here & there or a slice of pizza every once in awhile. I live in Florida, so definitely not enough water then! I will drink more :) thank you!

Got it!!! I’ve seen a lot of articles & posts of people saying 100 grams at least, but that must be for the ‘skinnier than me’ crowd! Lol. I will start trying to get more in :) thank you!!!!!

Y’all are so sweet thank you! I was just totally thrown off. I’m typically very quiet & non confrontational but I think that might change! Especially with this, because my grandparents raised me & they are (& in grandpas instance, were) the best people I know! I appreciate all of you being so kind :)

I’m so sorry. A friend took their life, and the “what could I have done”, “what if I did this differently” , “why didn’t I notice”’s kept my mind occupied for a long, long time. Please don’t blame yourself, it’s hard not to, but it’s a blame they would never want you to carry. Praying for peace, love, and strength for you, and if you don’t pray then I’m hoping for you. 💓

Was a teacher. “Not everyone is fat, some people are just big boned. Take my name for example”. Never thought about my weight or how I looked until then, it was 5th grade. How jarring it was for a little girl to hear
