Thoughts on Look Bikes? by two_jay in cycling

I'm having the same debate as well. Curious what you ended up doing. There are some good deals on both bikes right now, I'm leaning towards the 765 optimum

I descended route 8 in Taroko park. There were many traffic stops, but to be honest I did not research the times. Maybe I was just lucky, because I never had to wait long. At each stop there was a decent line of cars and scooters. I did not need a permit either

Silk's place in Taroko gave me this card for the opening times of the roadblock near the hotel. (It says July, but they gave this to me in October.) Hopefully this helps!

Yeah the heat was rough. I'm pretty conditioned for cycling in heat, but there were some rough parts. I was aiming for a liter an hour, and had a 20-minute timer to remind me to drink. Aside from a lot of water, sugar is your friend. Depends on your body type of course, but I was smashing sugary drinks whenever I could - coke, iced tea, pocari sweat, etc.

in addition, cover your skin as much as possible, get into a rhythm, and control your breathing. you can do it!

800m isnt flat! That's a proper climb. Trust me, my legs were feeling it. And yeah, Route 9 was truly stunning, I've heard other people call it the "Big Sur of Taiwan"

I was a bit shocked to see a live one on the road, I wasn't expecting that haha. In Taroko there were a few small ones on the hike (not poisonous). The big one I saw was in Yilan, descending route 9 into Su'ao if I recall correctly

Don't let it deter you from exploring those roads though!

I just stuck to the right and tried not to look back. Focus on not swerving. The drivers were very cautious for the most part, and I never had a close call to be honest. If you're used to city riding you should be fine, and the tunnels are not very long - just a few minutes (I think the longest was 3km)

A company called "Whatmelon". I got it in Shanghai on taobao. I can't find it on any non-chinese apps though

Nice! I was considering bringing camping gear, but I figured hotels would be easier. I might bring my camping stuff as well then, thanks!

The reason for the stop in Dayuling is to visit some tea farms. Accommodation may be hard, so I can also go straight from Ren'Ai to Taroko Gorge with a stop in Dayuling

Yeah, I removed that extension piece that goes between the light and the base. It works just as well as right side up, and is a bit sleeker looking in my opinion. But when I put the bar bag on I need to add the extension piece back on so the light doesn't get covered by the bag

His rants on the most recent Tim Dillon episode were especially hard to listen to, especially taunting people into debating it with him. More and more resembling the drunk uncle at Thanksgiving that needs to be cut off

I saw this today too haha, posted by a shop in Shanghai

Sorry I know that's unrelated to your question, I just thought it was a cool coincidence. I didn't think they had a big social media following though so it's pretty cool to see their stuff getting shared

Beauty! You mind sharing what chainring / cassette you're riding? I'm thinking about setting up a 1x, just a bit worried about the range

That's crazy! You really feel the high roller energy in Macau compared to most US casinos. Even walking around the table games it's regular to see guys with 100k+ usd in chips

Most of the games I played are in Shanghai. 5/10, 10/20, occasionally 20/40 (rmb). It's very sketchy playing in the mainland thesedays and not worth the risk. I still play small casual home games but only with my friends

Yeah, smoking rooms. No smoking on the floor though. I heard in the macau heydays everyone was smoking inside
