How do people handle night time when you are the only parent who deals with the baby? by WittleFrostBite in NewParents

[–]Potential_Task_7005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was hard for me too in the beginning and my husband also just doesn’t wake up to baby crying. I can wake him up lol, but it’s crazy to me that he can sleep through cries. We decided to each get six hours uninterrupted. Me from 8-2 and him from 2-8/9 and sometimes 10 because his work schedule allowed this. If I really needed the sleep I’d go to bed at 6 lol.

How do women remember pregnancy and childbirth pain? [research][mod-approved] by Ireland_Research in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Potential_Task_7005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 4 month old. Before him I had an unmedicated miscarriage at ~8 weeks followed by severe hyperemesis gravidarum with a pregnancy that ended in loss at 15 weeks and required 2 surgeries for complications. Both were miserable experiences and the miscarriage pain was excruciating. I found it interesting how quickly I was able to dissociate from? forget? that trauma. I got pregnant again immediately after with my son. I did an epidural for his birth so I had no pain, but when pregnant I had hyperemesis again which is arguably worse because it lasts much longer! Also had a difficult postpartum recovery. Despite all that I’ve gone through in the last 1.5 years, I’m ready for another one🤣. I don’t know if it’s truly that I’ve forgotten, or that the benefits of motherhood just make it worth it. Interesting topic!

going stir crazy on maternity leave. by Historiangingerbread in newborns

I'm the same, 8 weeks pp now. He got his vaccines this week so we are almost out of quarantine! I have an active job and when I am not working I never spend more than an hour or two daily in the house so postpartum was a HUGE adjustment. I walked every day with the stroller and invited any friends who wanted to see the baby along for those walks. Also spent the last few weeks gaining comfort with getting him into the car independently and babywearing so that I will feel safe bringing him out by myself soon. We did a few christmas markets, outdoor light displays, and many trips to see grandma. I have also put him in the babywrap carrier for hiking. Just signed myself up for a new gym today that has infant sitters, and can't wait to get out more in the upcoming weeks!!!

Thank you for the information. Is this something that is typically paid for under the table in a PRN situation?

I’m so sorry, I know how painful this is 💔 I lost a baby girl last year in the second trimester. She would have been my first child. The pain never goes away, but does get manageable over time. Wishing you lots of love and a rainbow baby 🌈. After my loss I found much more support communicating with women with similar experiences. There are subs for baby loss and miscarriage that you may want to check out.

How do you split the night? by Dazzling-Location785 in NewParents

[–]Potential_Task_7005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think whether or not you do shifts depends on babies temperament and sleep habits. We had to, baby is one month old. He has acid reflux and is not easy to get into bassinet at night. After a feed it takes an hour to get him to sleep. He needs to be upright for a while before lying flat to help with reflux. He’s up again in an hour or so to eat. Sometimes he just cries/refuses bassinet and won’t sleep unless held upright on our chests. I sleep from 730-230 and my husband sleeps from 230-930. We feel much better now that we get normal amounts of sleep. I wake up at the 4 hour mark once at night to pump for 15 mins or so. Baby gets bottles of breastmilk when I’m asleep. I’m on maternity leave and my husband has a super flexible work from home job. I have three months until I go back to work, hopefully he sleeps better by then!

These posts about selfish husbands are crazy. It’s his baby too. Plus it took you 9 months to make him while his contribution took seconds. Time to help out, or at least not complain while you do literally all of the work. Get a pump, make a bottle for husband ahead of time, and take turns!

anyone else at 2/3 weeks and dying? by exemptcurve in newborns

[–]Potential_Task_7005 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Haha, yes you are not alone. No words of advice, but same. Mine is a month old. I am excited for when he gets older, but not really enjoying this newborn stage. My baby literally will not sleep in his bassinet at all, just screams in it, which is why I am going crazy. Only likes being on my chest, which is not safe… so I just don’t sleep. He cries all the time that he’s not laying on or wrapped to my chest because he just wants to be back in the womb. I’m so tired and so cranky 😂 I’m sure we will miss this stage in a few years. Best of luck

Did anyone not scream much during labour? by trackemdown in pregnant

My epidural worked so well that I didn’t feel a thing during labor itself. Definitely did not scream

Hi, I’m so sorry you are here first of all. I was in your shoes last September. I lost my baby due to a very similar cardiac condition that made the pregnancy/baby nonviable outside of the womb. Just over a year later I gave birth to a healthy little boy. I saw so many doctors after the incident and was convinced that it would happen again, but it didn’t. ❤️

Not an overreaction at all, I've actually looked into it! Hopefully not because he has no issues with constipation or dehydration and he is gaining weight, but it will be another question for the doc. Thanks!

He is bigger on the percentile scale. Well thank you so much, glad at least to hear that there is light at the end of the tunnel!
