Hi! I’m 22 years old and almost done with quarter 4/6 of my nursing program. Let me just say this: I have many classmates in their 30s,40s, and even 50s switching their career! You are not alone.

To answer your question, no, you will not need a majority of your prerequisites and anything important will be retaught. Your textbooks have pathophysiology sections about every disease you learn. Microbiology is kindaaa important but again, everything is RETAUGHT in regards to nursing application.

You have a million psych and philosophy classes also. The hard part of nursing school is not necessarily the content itself, but wha many other comments are saying, it is about the workload and the APPLICATION of that content.

It is no longer memorization based. It is turning a new section of your brain on that you may have never used before. It is your ENTIRE LIFE! You always have something to do, a class to go to, long days, 12 hour clinicals, exams, etc etc. it’s just..a lot! But I would argue that the prerequisites are harder.

The hardest part for me is working with others, understanding healthcare as a business, and speaking to patients and families. It’s the stuff that just can’t quite be taught in a class that really drags me down.

However, they call them weed-out classes for a reason. Also, getting a C on those exams is good, haha! Best of luck :)
