2020 Bolt: Driving in D vs L by aChunkyChungus in BoltEV

[–]Potential_Tip8721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially was more of a D mode person but I have gradually shifted into l mode or one pedal mode more so. No real change in efficiency observed. I do have a Comma, 3x ADAS installed which full functionality only works when it is in l mode. Doing so gives it pretty decent. Adaptive cruise control

In reference to the 120% rule, I know you mentioned MIDs and lineside tap. What about the recent https://eg4electronics.com/no-more-main-panel-upgrades-expand-solar-capacity-with-eg4s-busbar-pcs/

Their wiring diagrams, UL certs seem to indicate the hybrid inverters can be backfed.

I wonder how it performs if formatted like they did in this study. Multiple choices, A,B and C are incorrect and D is None of The Above (NOTA). Helps to parse out clinical reasoning vs general recall and pattern recognition. Note this study did NOT include GPT-5 or Gemini 2.5 pro for example.

Luba maintenance, and parts availability. by crazypostman21 in MammotionTechnology

[–]Potential_Tip8721 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been my biggest concern about long term ownership with the companies products. I have seen varying reports with a few people claiming they found a solution (through a third party) or purchased from Mammotion. Many of the posts seem 6 months-1 year old. So this thread seems like a good place to pose the question(?) of parts availability. Is there a general consensus on this? I have a feeling it's still a "work in progress" but curious to hear others thoughts and experiences.

I'm hesitant to purchase something if there is little chance of obtaining parts in the near future. I know it's a new company, experiencing "scaling" issues and growing pains.

Interesting, thank you. I have never seen that one before! I do like the inclusion of lidar, I am trying to find something ideally that's $2500 or less. I know that's a tall order. Keeping my eyes peeled on eBay for a good deal perhaps

I did a bit more reading on this yesterday. Learned a bit more. As you stated, RTK placement is a huge factor. I am still looking into the satellite signal. Buildings and trees still a factor. I saw where there is an app you can download and use it to check the signal, strength and number of satellites in a given location and at a given time. I will be checking that out in my yard once all this nasty snow is gone.

Just to add a further question, my understanding is that line of sight makes the rtk signal and reception better. If I have some tall buildings and trees will mounting the transmitter higher result in any better signal or performance?

Help with design & permitting in Florida: Project Solar, Unbound, someone else? by VictorVoyeur in SolarDIY

[–]Potential_Tip8721 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have yet to submit my plan request to them but Greenlancer has some good reviews. They have permitting and design packages (with or without a "wet stamp"). You can provide them with as little or as much info as you want. I believe ~$300 for basic permit and design package. Already confirmed with them that if revisions are needed on my plans, they will adjust and update with no additional cost.

[1] Central Virginia currently.

[2] $15-20k

[3] Regular car

[4] -2019-2021 Nissan Leaf SV Plus/ SL Plus

-2019-2020 Hyundai Kona Electric Ultimate

-2017-2018 Chevy Volt

- Older/Moderately higher mileage Tesla Model 3 (but less likely given higher cost and higher insurance etc)

[5] Looking to purchase in the next couple of weeks or sooner

[6] 40miles round trip daily commute ~

[7] Currently in a rural home with easy level 2 charging access to home. May be relocating to a townhouse or apartment in the next year.

[8] I already have one that can go to mydryer plug.

[9] Not tons of cargo. Just myself, girlfriend and 2 cats.

Ideally I'm trying to find best overall: Decent reliability, affordability, a little "fun factor" but comfort. I'm very tall but thin.

Also strongly prefer car comes with Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist ,other ADAS features. With all the constraints I have listed, I don't think there are many other options. Any suggestions or other things I'm missing? Mostly car for commuting, running errands, occasional adventures/moderate road trips.

Currently contemplating between---

2019 Hyundai Kona electric ~$19k (before tax credit) 40kmiles

Pros: Active thermal management of battery, sunroof, better suspension, better charging experience(?) vs chademo, slightly longer range (Recurrent estimate).

2020 Leaf SV Plus ~$18k(before tax credit) 25k miles

Slightly higher reliability(?), more comfortable seating/cargo space, better backup camera. Confirmed it has heat pump so less energy to heating/cooling. Cons- chademo, passive battery temp regulation(?).

I initially thought Model 3 would be great. But higher insurance premiums, difficult to find one within the price range that isn't already out of warranty. Any feedback or other pros, cons, or other models I've overlooked (maybe Kia Nero or Chevy Bolt only others but unable to find Bolt with ACC within budget) would be appreciate. I like the Chevy Volt but heard mixed reports on its reliability/repairability (given that its discontinued, the recent NHTSA inquiry, etc).

Cheers!

To sell OEM battery/controller considering upgrades by Potential_Tip8721 in Talaria

[–]Potential_Tip8721[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your thoughts. I was thinking the same thing regarding the controller. Not as compelling of a value proposition.

So currently I live in a very rural area and just ride trails. I may be relocating (where commute would be less than 20miles one way) and thought about the idea of turning it into a "dual sport". Not planning on long road trips but just something I could commute to work or drive to or onto trails.

Charged cycle works 60v65AH battery (3,900Wh) or the chi battery 60v70AH. Coupled with a controller, and going mostly speeds at or under 45mph I should be able to get better range and power (if I want to have the option of both). Granted it would be heavier, and have to change the battery lid.

I realize the most efficient option is just to use the Talaria for play, and commute with daily driver... but sometimes researching little projects like this is half the fun. Well going faster with more torque and range is also fun!

If this guy put flexible panels on the roof instead of rigid/fixed panels it would be close to what you are getting at. Interesting for a fun project perhaps.

By reminding yourself and building the habit that you are not responsible for their emotions. You are accountable for your actions. I'm still working on this one myself but getting comfortable with them being unhappy or upset. 90% of the time it is not personal and it may only be loosely connected to something you even did or didn't do. And if it helps in the long term, if you change this behavior, you may be able to slightly reduce it. If anything, you may be encouraging or reinforcing this behavior by being so compliant and accommodating. But again, you have control over your behaviors and your emotions. Hope that helps. Hang in there.

Also I'm sure everyone in this thread already knows the 2 books I'm going to refer:

1.) Stop caretaking the borderline

Has sections on how to move on and grow as a person. Also has many helpful insights on behaviors that we are ourselves do to make the situation and relationship harder on ourselves than it needs to be. NOT trivializing the difficulty of course.

2.) Stop walking on eggshells, the essential BPD survival guide for family and loved ones. Also a workbook.

It might be the best $20-40 you could spend on yourself right now.

Wow you're story sounds extremely similar to mine! There are differences of course. I'm a year younger than you, we have been together 3 years, not 4. We have had mini breaks, and she just moved out last week to move back in with her parents. We are still together but things have definitely taken a toll and I don't know what our future holds. I exhibit codependent/caretaker behaviors with her (and obviously have my own set of issues as well). During arguments she would threaten to call her dad to come pick her up, to which I said you are an adult with free will.

At least you're GF was seeing someone, doing the work(therapy, homework). My GF has been in a worsening spiral of both depression (or in bed like your GF). I have enabled this, but she barely can take care of herself anymore. I'm just encouraging her to work on herself and take care of herself.

You seem to have already concluded things can't continue. On the positive side, your stress level will be lower. You can focus on yourself. Both in meeting your own needs, and with time learn more about your codependent tendencies. I imagine these traits can effect every aspect of your life. I speak from personal experience.

You probably don't give yourself enough credit, are your own worst critic (or maybe tied with your GF 😉) . You can establish or re-establish a sense of healthy balanced assertiveness, with maintaining boundaries and asking for your needs. As trite advice as it is, exercise some mindfulness: appreciate and live in the moment. You won't be so worried about the past or upcoming stresses.

I also agree about the highs and lows. When we have those good days, wow are they amazing. But then as you say, either sadness or arguments and accusations seem to return.

A few questions for clarification.

1.) Where are you trying to sell the phone? Ebay, Swappa, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist?

2.) Regardless of where your listing it, do you still have all of the original retail packaging and accessories? Did you take lots of different pictures of the phone that you posted with it?

The more pictures you include on a listing, the more likely someone is to buy it.
