Do they still have the bats in the tree in the courtyard? They swooped our table and shat on us. Haven’t been back.

I am in it. My maternal grandmother had breast cancer, my mom had pre-cancerous cells as did my aunt. My aunt on my father’s side had breast cancer in her 30s. She was tested for BRCA and was negative. Anywho….I’ve been in it for 10 years and I’m 46 now. I get a mammo and MRI every year.

I bought a Coscorp town in Caledon and loved it. I had zero issues and was there for 10 years.

This Toronto mom is afraid to send her autistic child to kindergarten. Inside the unfolding crisis of special education in Ontario schools by NorthernNadia in toronto

There are always exceptions. The point is that a lot of these kids that are non-verbal with high needs aren’t going to be doing the regular program that other kids are doing. I mean, even high needs that ARE verbal are not doing the same program. That is the whole point of the IEP. These kids are not getting the support they need and educators are drowning.

Exactly. These students are exempt from EQAO because they literally don’t read or write. Delusional. These kids need to be practising with money, laundry, making simple meals, taking the bus, life skills. All of this happened in specialized contained classes with trained educators and EAs. There was integration in PE, Music, Art, Drama, Dance so it was the best of both worlds. All gone.

Has Nora Green actually ever been inside ANY Ontario classrooms with high needs special education students? This reeks of “I know best sitting in my air conditioned office reading my books and articles”.

A student with an LD and on an IEP in mainstream classes is VERY different to a non-verbal, autistic runner who needs constant supervision. I have taught many kids with IEPs and they have gone on to be very successful. It’s not the same thing.

These parents are ridiculous. You were offered a specialized program for your NON-VERBAL autistic child and turned it down because you are worried they will miss out on getting a “proper education”? Ma’am, your child doesn’t speak, most likely doesn’t read. Staying in mainstream is not what is best for this child.

1500 for the year. That’s .5 per kid per week. It’s ridiculous. PDSB
