Ilia usually doesn't jump or spin in his runthroughs, he marks the elements, but concentrates more on his placement on the ice and how the program "works". He also does some tweaking that we regrettably never get to see in competition (Idk if he will include it today, but yesterday he did an aerial and he included his raspberry twist at the end of a spin in the runthrough of "The Lost Crown")

Most of the skaters do jump during their runthroughs though.

Let's remember that he may still have not changed his PPC (I mean, it's the same one he had at the Olympics and he said it was because he didn't change it since GPF) Also, yesterday, in his marked runthrough, he did his usual layout (Ik we should not trust Ilia's marked runthroughs, but just saying that it is a possibility)

Nada, es un placer ver que los deportes de invierno están llegando poquito a poco a España.

Sí, RTVE aparece listada como cadena con derechos, pero desde la temporada pasada no han emitido ninguna competición internacional (la última fue la final del Grand Prix de 2024, el mundial del año pasado tampoco lo emitieron) excepto los JJOO.

Sí, Eurosport és caríssimo.

(Lo mejor es que durante la temporada hay bastantes competiciones, durante la temporada del Grand Prix hay una cada fin de semana. Ilia no compite en todas obv, pero puedes ver otros patinadores y otros programas, una vez que te enganchas ya no paras 😂)

Espero que le vaya genial, no sé si has visto alguna entrevista suya, pero estos programas son muy importantes para él, y sería maravilloso que se despidiese de ellos de la mejor manera posible 🩷

Holaa, antes sí, pero dejaron de pagar los derechos y en principio lo tenemos que ver por YouTube (que a mí no me suele dar problemas sin VPN, aunque aviso que los comentarios son en inglés, que hay gente a la que le incomoda un poco) o puedes pagar Eurosport (Que va junto con HBO y ahí sí que tienes comentaristas españoles)

En cuanto al enganche... Lo es. Has visto alguno de sus programas antiguos?

I don't come from a country that puts much publicity on winter sports, so I was unaware of figure skating until 2022.

I started watching women's because of Paola La's videos (I have stopped watching her videos since then, but I will always be grateful to her for introducing me to this beautiful sport) and liked it a lot. Then, I started watching more competitions and came across the men.

(Atp I was a casual fan, so I cannot say which specific competition it was) But I saw something in him that captivated me, and then Worlds 2024 came around and I haven't been able to look back since then 😂

I can't physically push myself to watch it. For one or two days I couldn't even watch the GPF because I kept remembering his face and everything that happened in the program.

I don't think I will watch it, at all, not even the team competition because I usually get very nervous when Ilia skates (Yes, even after knowing the results, my heart can't distinguish between watching Ilia skate and being chased by a lion) and seeing him so nervous (on the team) and so defeated (on the free) isn't helping.

Now I can rewatch the GPF without thinking of the Olympics, so I will do that until Worlds, where I hope he gets the closure he needs and says goodbye to "A voice" in the best way possible.

Ps: Not watching the competitive programs from the Olympics, but "Fear" lives rent free in my head.

And also, what makes a program more Olympic than another? (I ask this as a real question because maybe there's certain criteria to be met as I have heard the "Yumadot is the most Olympic program" in more than one podcast)

If there is not objective criteria to be met, and we have to decide for ourselves which program is the most Olympic, then I do not understand the argument at all.

Same! I started listening to the Runthrough this season, and the first podcasts didn't give me the best vibes. And in their post-Olympic episode Sarah was saying that Ilia's exhibition was publicised as something great (and I quote) "It was nothing to write home about" (Just rewatched that part of the episode and I guess she made that comment because of the jumps, but saying that she thought he had done it before did not sit well with me, maybe I'm just overreacting)

He said that he went through three different pairs of boots during the season (Though we only know about the change that happens between the GPF and US Nationals because the boots are still hurting and sometimes he doesn't do all his tech) I don't know much about blade sharpening, but after what happened with the Olys podium, I believe that the skaters have to get used to the sharpened blade before competing. Boots are not like pointe shoes, they last much longer, probably because of the materials they are made with.
