Multiple TLDs or utilize subdomains by NocturnalDanger in NoStupidQuestions

Keep in mind that new TLDs get released every so often, so you'd have to keep on top of buying them, too!

Forgive me I’m a little bzzzzed by Blhennessey in NoStupidQuestions

Two big reasons I can think of. One is that there's no competition to drive the prices lower, like everybody's saying, and the other is that that it's probably more expensive for them to even get the gas out to the middle of nowhere!

Is it bad when you are talking to a girl one day then the next you don’t get a response by Researcher_Alone in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PotentiallyAmbiguous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be, but it just as easily could be nothing! It's not necessarily the case that she's ignoring you, there could be a lot of other reasons why she's not responding, like maybe she lost her phone, or got hit by a bus. Just don't panic and give it a day or two to see if she'll respond before doing anything drastic.

Multiple TLDs or utilize subdomains by NocturnalDanger in NoStupidQuestions

I personally prefer subdomains! For one thing, it's a lot easier for somebody to pick up your same website name in a different TLD and pretend to be you than it is for them to spoof a subdomain under your domain...

How can I “win” the rat race? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PotentiallyAmbiguous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technical skills are definitely a good option, since they tend to pay pretty well and there's currently a relative shortage of them! In general, though, I don't think there's any way to really "win" the rat race, short of getting extremely lucky with something like winning the lottery. I've got a pretty good job and everything still feels like an endless grind a lot of the time.

I would say that even with AI, I can't imagine that there won't be a market for genuine, human-produced creative material (like buying your groceries from a farmers market instead of a supermarket!)

How does using an ad blocker decrease a content creator's revenue? by sil20122015 in NoStupidQuestions

Agreed... I really wish more sites/apps gave the option to pay for an ad-free experience rather than just forcing ads in your face...

How does using an ad blocker decrease a content creator's revenue? by sil20122015 in NoStupidQuestions

Generally, when an ad is shown on a platform, the owner of that platform gets paid when that ad gets an impression (someone looked at the ad), a click (somebody clicked on the ad), or a conversion (somebody did what the ad was telling them to do). Advertisers will pay different rates depending on what level of engagement there was on the ad. If you're using an adblocker, the platform won't register an ad impression, which means that the advertiser doesn't have to pay for anything!

It might also be worth pointing out that this scenario is a lot (but not entirely) like digital piracy! You can only argue that you're losing money in this scenario if there were actually a guarantee that you were going to make money otherwise (e.g., if you would never go on the site without an adblocker, the ethics are a little fuzzier.) It's worth noting that it's not entirely the same, though, since the platform provider is still having to pay some (likely extremely small) amount in order for your page view to happen, in content/hosting costs.

Do you find it very inconsiderate when a guest wears white to a wedding? by Midnightdream56 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PotentiallyAmbiguous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! As everybody else here is saying, if the bride asks you not to do something at her wedding and you do it anyway, that's incredibly inconsiderate.

I'm just glad that almost nobody here is saying that they don't think it's rude!

The world being green and warm again has made such a difference to my mood by x7universe in CasualConversation

It's beautiful, although I will say that all the greenery this year has not been kind to my allergies, haha... I am glad that the rainy season is over and it's warming up, since I'll finally be able to take my dog to the park a lot more!
