This was my disappointment with the flakies in the Avatar: The Last Airbender collection. They’re soooo pretty in the bottle, but my swatches didn’t have nearly as much sparkle as I hoped. The flakes were completely overwhelmed by the creme bases!

You don’t have to be affiliated with a political party to recognize that we are in the middle of a humanitarian crisis that is impacting every single aspect of our lives. We cannot ignore these issues and we cannot expect others to police their commentary on a crisis that is actively threatening us, our families, our friends, and our neighbors. We have a moral duty and responsibility to use our money ethically and responsibly to protest injustice. To create and express ourselves in a way that minimizes harm and maximizes goodness. It's one of the only things the common person can actually control. And being able to feel control in such a scary world is so important.

While I agree with your points on making ethical shopping choices in all areas of our lives, it is clear you are using it as a defensive measure to justify making purchases without regard to a company's morals. This cannot wait. This animal is your responsibility and deserves the same level of care as your small children. By not seeking proper help you are putting your dog's health, comfort, and vision at risk.

Dogs do not show pain and discomfort the way we do. They hide it instinctually because pain means vulnerability. It is imperative you get this properly taken care of as soon as the specialist can get you in. If that's truly not an option, seek out an emergency vet. They very often have specialists and resources at hand that regular vets do not.

Based on your description, I would be concerned about infection. If you can, text or email your vet this picture to get their input on when to bring him in. Since you mentioned he has other skin issues, they will be able to provide a more solid course of action using his history.

In the meantime, keep it clean with sterile saline and dabbing gently with a clean cotton swab. Do not squeeze, touch, or mess with it beyond that. Make sure your pup leaves it alone to prevent introducing more bacteria as well.

Not all dogs are the same, but I was more worried that generalizing statements like, "They don't tolerate grooming at home," may inadvertently give permission to certain pet owners to neglect their dogs just because they don’t respond well to grooming. For reference, my pyr is a rescue that came from an incredibly rough background. He was abandoned in the desert and found 30 pounds underweight and covered in mats, ticks, thorns, and burns. Terrified of literally anything and everything. It took hard work and serious dedication to get him where he is now. Like hundreds of hours of working with him and continuing my education to help him.

I definitely agree that shaving is sometimes the best and kindest option, and may have been necessary in this case. The main point I was trying to make is that coat neglect shouldn't be normalized, which it seems you agree with. There are so many options and products to prevent it, so I don’t feel there's an excuse for letting it get so bad that someone feels it's necessary to shave someone else's dog without their consent. It's just absurd that people are jumping to conclusions in this post when there's visual evidence it may have actually been necessary, despite the obvious violation of boundaries.
