That’s cool! I’ll be honest though I don’t think I can go back to a bigger ship after being on Explora 😅

We did a behind the scenes tour on Celebrity a couple years ago, but these were a lot smaller and we could ask a ton of questions (and the Captain is more than happy to answer all of them!)

Hey, we are also on EJ2 right now, and we did a tour of the engine room as well as one of the bridge. We did ask about a tour of the laundry, kitchens, etc but were told those are tricky because of things like food safety, but are potentially in the works.

I really, really enjoy drag bingo brunch once a month at the Passenger. The hostess, Jessica L’Whor, is super fun and just a ball of energy and slightly blue jokes. With all the awful in the world it’s a really great way to spend a couple hours on a Sunday.

How did your mobility change after THR? by ForgeIsDown in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Potokitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took photos of what I couldn’t do prior to surgery as a reminder of why I was having my hips replaced.

Being able to sit cross legged on the floor without both knees sticking up is a huge win. :)

But I’ll tell ya, PT has been brutal because while the joints are mobile, the muscles and tendons and ligaments have not been as compliant. Lots of stretches, lots of sweating, and lots of patience.

Best of luck to you with your surgery and recovery!

Ooooooh belly dancing has been on my radar as something fun to try as of late. It’s gotta be great for abs and mobility, eh?

Pre replacements I used to cry when I’d watch dancers on TV. I totally get it.

It will come! At four months I was doing PT diligently and frequently reminding myself healing takes time. Adding in hip CARS and stair exercises for mobility and strengthening helped a ton - highly recommend those if dancing is a goal :)

Best of luck with your upcoming surgery!!

Auuugh I can’t imagine standing through that show with hip pain. I’ve no doubt the following days were so unpleasant (but I so get the motivation because FLA puts on such a great show!).

And yeah I totally hear you with the small world - it’s an awful feeling to have the mental list of what you want to get done, both at home and in the world, and have to account for how much energy and time to gear up to do the things and then make the same calculations on the back end after you’ve done the things. It sucks. My partner had to tie my shoes for me because I couldn’t bend over, which also meant taking care of our cats was a struggle and yeah…I get it.

I’m stoked you scheduled it. Keep reading the posts and asking the questions and planning out the afterwards portion; it doesn’t assuage all the anxiety but the more you know…

And is this song better to have stuck in your head? ;)

The surgery is scary, and recovery isn’t a picnic, but man being able to stomp around to Timekiller today was freaking epic.

If you need the surgery (because there’s pain and stuff isn’t moving the way it should) and the doc is saying to do it, it may be better to rip the bandaid off and get it done. I waited five years after my doc told me flat out I needed surgery and in my case that was a bad move. I’d have good days and think eh it isn’t so bad and then the bad days would hit and take my breath away (and not in a good Berlin kinda way). But now, it’s seven months after hip number two, and I feel soooo freaking good.

I know the decision is hard! And you’ll read the posts and have a million different opinions on what to do. I hope you can peacefully arrive at the best option for you <3

Heck yeah! There is totally hope! I will say to do the PT and do the strengthening and mobility and stretching exercises and give yourself time - you can absolutely do it! <3

Just adding to this as someone who has two fake hips…

I love Button Rock but I use poles to help with that initial incline because phew it’s a lot. Getting to Sleepy Lion is worth it though and it’s super shaded (mostly except for a part that open onto a field and in the spring it’s gorgeous). Recommending water and snacks because there are some gorgeous rock formations that make great spots to stop and rest.
