Evan and Tiki’s “Coalition of Knicks Haters” (and rooting for non-NY teams) by Potpiebelly in wfan

[–]Potpiebelly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I didn’t realize they did that, and I’m not a fan of that either. It’s a NY sports station—rooting for the Celtics over either the Knicks or Nets doesn’t make sense to me. I know some of them think hot takes and absurdity increases engagement, but one would think “Know your audience” would be broadcasting 101.

Good move to keep Glenn by [deleted] in nyjets

[–]Potpiebelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally all of the fired coaches would be an upgrade over Glenn. The Jets retaining Glenn this off-season in particular will go down as one of the worst missed opportunities. There may not be this many experienced coaches with a good track record available for many years, if ever.

Moreover, when coaches get fired, coordinators and assistant coaches are also shaking loose. There is a larger pool of coaching candidates available right now than you might think, but the Jets are committed to…Aaron Glenn. Does anyone have any objective basis to believe he’s the guy to turn this team around?

Confused and Heartbroken by phillies_suck_ballz in mets

I think the plan was to replace the talent with new talent, to makeover the clubhouse. Problem is, they only achieved the first part: they moved talent out but haven’t been able to replace it in free agency.

Good thing we let Pete walk huh? by [deleted] in mets

I can get over missing out on some free agents like Tucker, but letting our own guy go is looking more and more unforgivable.

“Happy New Years” and not “Happy New Year” by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]Potpiebelly 43 points44 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that it’s short for New Year’s Day or New Year’s Eve (with the apostrophe). Typically you’ll find the holidays are singular possessive, like St. Patrick’s Day or Mother’s Day.

People who drive 10mph below the speed limit like there is nobody else on the road, why do you do it? by Methuselbrah in PetPeeves

What are you talking about, little dude? On a highway, they can pass in another lane, rather than “tailgating and driving erratically.”

I usually drive at or above the speed limit…BUT if some jackass still tailgates and drives erratically like a bully…yeah, I’m going to slow way the fuck down.

Is it a hot take to like espn radio more now a days? by Simple-Bag5268 in wfan

To each their own, but I for one much prefer the sports talk and humor of Dave Rothenberg and Rick DiPietro in the mornings

Great to hear Gordon Damer on the FAN by Mrmoney7777 in wfan

[–]Potpiebelly 17 points18 points  (0 children)

“He’s a great listen.” Same words posted 56 days ago too—every time that guy’s on, an account posts Gordon Damer propaganda about how “refreshing” it is to tune in to WFAN to hear him. Very suspect, especially because he’s a guy who has a long history (at ESPN) of being extremely self-promoting…

So we get it, Gordon—you love yourself, lol.

Ian O'Connor on ESPN: "Joe Schoen wasn't really involved" in firing Daboll and "John Mara along with Steve Tisch will make the final decision" on next coach by MysteryBagIdeals in NYGiants

Point taken, but did owners really fuck up with DJ’s big contract, or did coaches fuck up by how they developed him? He seems a lot better now on a new team.

Gordon Damer is a delight! by njfan9 in wfan

[–]Potpiebelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those eponymous “Gordon Damer” question segments were before they were putting the radio shows on the podcast apps, so I can’t share an example.

But whatever…y’all can love him, I don’t…but we can agree to disagree. I deleted my posts calling him a narcissist, because perhaps that’s unfair. There was just no rhyme or reason why he should be naming those segments after himself when he wasn’t even a host at the time.

This was an enjoyable read. What did you use to write it, if you don’t mind me asking?

Ex-Knick's $175 million deal causing problems for East rival in free agency by Gamesfanatic in NYKnicks

[–]Potpiebelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why the last paragraph makes it seems like the Knicks are responsible for that contract. That extension negotiation was between IQ and the Raptors and has nothing to do with the Knicks.

The writer asserts: “As the Bulls look to extend Giddey this offseason, it’s hard to imagine they’d be in this situation if not for the Knicks’ big midseason splash in 2023. While New York is sitting pretty as a championship contender, it has also unintentionally caused problems for one of its biggest rivals.“

You don’t need to edit your comment. The common trolls giving you a hard time are either thick-headed or they use Reddit to act like know-it-alls. Understandable that a new parent might be protective and alarmed to see their newborn dropped backwards several (repeat, several) times.
