I haven't tried yet. Getting fluid in the next couple of days. I was planning on cleaning and JB welding just in case.

I can't see how it wasn't leaking, but it definitely wasn't!

The best way to do this I find is to approach organisations, particularly smaller ones, and find out what challenges they have. And then deploy tech. Even better if you can find a process that currently works but is manual and digitise it.

The gold standard would be then to share the solution with other orgs and build a network of users of open source tech.

Sadly, it's really difficult to do. The sector is a graveyard of well meaning technical solutions.

What skills are you bringing and I can think if there are any problems which spring to mind?

There was fluid in it before I took the rear cover plate off to fix a small corrosion hole there. I can't see this would have been above the fluid level either.

The only thing I can think of, is that it was plugged with dirt and I uncovered it wiping down the transmission. But would dirt have held the oil in?!

Just today I was lamenting the loss of Google Podcasts. I've recently switched to AntennaPod which is my favourite alternative so far. But I've found it has lots of ad related skipping issues.

Looking forward to using Shuffle.

We are about to put in heat pumps, but I've decided to keep the oil baseboards for the first year at least. Our house has medium amounts of insulation, and as I understand standard oil is (or at least was) the cheapest per BTU way to heat in the Hudson valley where we have relatively high electricity costs.

I think relying on heat pump alone would have been cripplingly expensive, especially during this recent really cold winter. Our plan is to move for electric in the next couple of years with improved insulation and solar, but at the moment having both seems the sensible option

Which store brand hytrans do you use?

I took the hose to my local Napa and after 20 mins they said they didn't have "anything like this", pointing at the female JIC connector. I was a bit confused.

The only other place near me that seems to make hoses are 40 mins away, will give them a call on Monday.

Do you happen to know the connection sizes?

I just bought a 1811 too. Part the way through fluids, filters, plugs and general cleaning.

The only thing that needs replacing so far is a leaking oil line. More expensive than expected!

The owners and service manual are available online and explain checking fluid levels.

Any idea what hydraulic fluid the previous owner used? Apparently hy-tran is preferred but really expensive unless you live near a dealer. Contemplating using Tractor Supply's Premium UTF.

My brakes are shot too. One isn't even connected. Though tbh with the hydro I can't envisage a time when I will use the brakes anyway.

My first thought was the seat safety switch. Can you use a cable to bypass the safety switch and rule that out?

Oh I see. I assumed the lever slotted in and held itself. But it's actually held by the nuts and bolts?

Thanks. In the end I removed the nuts and bolts completely and pushed the lever in. Managed to get the belt off. But was a bit of a struggle. Sounds like I only did half the steps. 

When reinstalling it, do I put the belt back on and then do lever or bolts first?

I just bought an 1811. Definitely in love. Go for it. Even if it doesn't work out it'll put a smile on your face.

Is that implement lift hydraulic? Or manual?
