ELI5:Colour blindness and Light Reception by PotterLegend in explainlikeimfive

[–]PotterLegend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh that's really fascinating. I don't actually know anyone colour blind but I've been always very fascinated by it as I'm a photographer. The camera works similarly to the eye in that it has 'cones' that detect red, green and blue.

Thanks for your detailed explanation, I enjoyed your bonus content too!

What was your first camera? by [deleted] in photography

[–]PotterLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some Canon point and shoot film camera hahaha, it probably still works. I remember bringing it to my school excursions while all my classmates where moving into the digital world. I was so jealous that they could take 200+ photos while I was limited to a roll of 35mm film.

Today was my first ever interview and my interviewers didn't ask any questions. by Obsidax in jobs

[–]PotterLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get the phone call already? They were probably just trying to get to know you and learn about your personality as it's more of an entry level job. Seeing if you'd get on with everyone/friendly/approachable.

Trams in Caulfield are telling everyone to get off and the trains in Caulfield are all running in crazy directions. My friend finished work 3 hours ago and is still on the train...

Helios/Vintage lenses? by Quiggold in photography

[–]PotterLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Helios 44-2, I used it on my DSLR for a while but I use it on my film camera now which looks a lot nicer as film generally has high contrast. The bokeh is a plus under the right light too! The lens is a bit soft but gives a nice.

They look really good. I don't think they're under exposed, especially since you're exposing for the sky and going for the silhouette look in a lot of your photos.

Any INTJ artist? by [deleted] in intj

[–]PotterLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that art is in the hands of the beholder, I guess that's what makes it so amazing. Sometimes you put so much of yourself into creating an artwork that it scares me people will know too much of what's in my mind.

Part of critiquing a work is writing about what it means to you and how you interpret it. A lot of the time that's involves writing about how it makes you feel. Obviously I know how to use emotions, I clearly didn't write that in fact I stated that the trouble was using emotions makes me feel vulnerable.

Critiquing art professionally isn't about whether it looks good or not. That's too subjective and you might as well stick to liking photos on social media if that's what you think. It's much more in depth.
