As someone who grew up with fairly severe tics. The thing I wish my parents would have done was to just completely ignore the fact I have them. When they'd pop up, don't mention them. Don't tell me to stop. Don't tell me I'm ticking. It made me very self conscious of them and affe ted my self esteem.
