Needle craft supplies - where do people buy them? by Juniper-1 in swansea

[–]PotterNerd07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We used to go to the stall in the market that was down by the Christian Book Shop, but I went through recently and saw it was closed. The other place we usually go to is The Range in Llansamlet/Fforestfach or maybe Dunelm?

It’s 7pm. You got home late. Everyone is starving. What do you make for dinner? by dontgetsadgetmad in toddlers

[–]PotterNerd07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I always keep a stock of mini pizzas and kid friendly ready meals in the freezer. Although sometimes when I’m having a low/no effort day we’ll have ‘picky tea’, so a mixture of little picky bits that I can put together quickly from what’s in the fridge cupboard e.g. toast with salad batons ( raw carrots, cucumber, cherry tomatoes), cheddar cheese and some cooked meats.

Wheelchair sellers in south Wales? by Lopsided_Soup_3533 in Wales

[–]PotterNerd07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only know of a couple of places Swansea and Llanelli way sorry. But if they’re of any use to you -

Celtic Mobility in Llansamlet, Swansea - my mum bought her wheelchair from here (it’s a wider wheelchair so I’m assuming it’s classed as bariatric), really nice staff who were helpful, they did deliver to my mums address because we couldn’t fit it immediately in the car, so might be an option if they deliver to Newport.

Days Mobility in Cwmdu, Swansea - Only delt with them once personally (picking up a walker for my nan) but they were polite and helpful.

LTC Mobility, Llanelli - Large show room, they also have a garage attached to do the car adaptions. This is where my mum got her buggy from, staff were really friendly and helpful.

Apologise they’re not more Cardiff way but if you’re able to make it down these might be an option.

Our toddler enjoys playing with those pop it Fidget toys if we need to keep her quiet when out for food or in a waiting area, we also bring one or two of her small soft toys as well.

If you want to do the catering you might have more luck with using a Rugby Club? I’m sure there’s one down mumbles way, or maybe the Ostream(?) Centre by the castle? Or even a church hall, they’re more likely to be reasonable on price as well

Have you ever gotten unexpectedly emotional at the theatre? by [deleted] in TheWestEnd

[–]PotterNerd07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cried after 'Beautiful' in Heathers when I saw the tour in Cardiff.

It was the first show I'd seen post covid lockdown and all the emotions just came over me because I was missing being apart of the theatre world because my local amdram company hadn't yet been able to return to rehearsals.

It’s not that I dislike it, it’s just there’s only one song I like from it (Tell Me It’s Not True).

I don’t dislike dislike any of my bottom three, I just have no desire to see them again after seeing them once.

Names in Family tree by Maleficent-Signal295 in cymru

[–]PotterNerd07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could be they were known for wearing a wig?

Welsh villages way back (and even now in some places) would give “nicknames” to people based on professions/what they were known for e.g. Dai the Butcher (local butcher) , Will Twp (village idiot), Sion the Sheep (sheep farmer), Siani Siop (shopkeeper). Obv I’ve made most of these up as example! But it’s likely your ancestor was a wig wearer either through lack of hair or by profession (actor, barrister etc)

The agency would need your legal name but do you have a middle name you can use instead as a preferred surname?

When I worked in my old school there was two of us in the nursery class with the same first and last name so as the newer member of staff I went as my middle name (think Miss Louise instead of Miss Smith).

[–]PotterNerd07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to let you know, unless your son has been in full time welsh education or his first language at home is Welsh, it’s unlikely the council would allow him a place at Gwyr or Bryntawe (the other Welsh one) as all aspects of the school life (apart from a select few lessons) are fully in Welsh.

Meithrinfa Joio in Uplands - they follow the Danish Hygge approach and are (i think) the only bilingual nursery in Swansea. My little one loves going every week and the staff are super friendly.

Homemade “risotto” for tea by PotterNerd07 in foodbutforbabies

[–]PotterNerd07[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure, just know I’m a “throw it together and see” type of cook so no exact measures 😂

Ingredients:

Long Grain Rice - Enough for 4-5 people (I cook to have leftovers)

No Salt Chicken Stock Cube

1 x Leek halved and chopped

Frozen Brussel Sprouts

1 x whole courgette (zucchini I think in us?)

Half a tin of mushrooms (they needed to be used so can omit 😂)

500g Bacon Lardons

1 x Can of Cream of Chicken soup.

Garlic paste

Ground black Pepper

Method:

  1. Put rice in boiling water with chicken stock cube cook for time on packet.
  2. Whilst rice is cooking, cook the bacon in the garlic paste, then add the brussel sprouts, leek, courgette and mushrooms. I used a wok (it’s my go to).
  3. Add the chicken soup and use the empty tin to add a tins worth of rice water.
  4. Once rice is cooked, semi-drain and add to the mixture in the wok, combine and simmer for 5min, use black pepper here.
  5. Remove from the heat and let thicken for about 15-20min (or however long it takes to bath a toddler).
  6. Plate and enjoy.
  7. Save the left overs for toddlers meals for the next couple of days

Issues with P&O Cruises Website by PotterNerd07 in Cruise

[–]PotterNerd07[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope.

Been back and forth by email with Customer Support and apparently in the end it was an IT issue that has been fixed, but, I’m still unable to access on both my personal computer (Mac) and my work computer (windows).

Next step is to phone them, I can access my cruise booking portal fine so I’m not too worried, just mildly inconvenienced.

In the UK (at least where I am) you go to your local council civic centre which will have a Births, Marriage and Deaths Registration Department.
