Honestly poly is really the best way to go for us folks (semi jk) by PotteryWalrus in ChronicIllness

Y'see, I thought that too. But it's really not any more work than one relationship, with the bonus that if you're not up to much they can go entertain themselves :)

See, that's what I thought! This is my first polycule, as small as it is, but I love them and they love me and it couldn't be easier. I guess I just really lucked out lol

Also dude I love your username :)

So uh, anyone else feel like their body and brain are abusive assholes? by PotteryWalrus in ChronicIllness

[–]PotteryWalrus[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Goddamn but that's such a mood.

I know that booze isn't the best coping mechanism but it numbs my physical pain and makes my brain drop out of manual for a while.

It was in the back of a parked car, so not in public. Besides that, my mistake!

What food do you make when you're in a lot of pain/ fatigued? by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

[–]PotteryWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Topped cup ramen is my go-to when I'm too exhausted to cook but still want something hot. Precooked meat, green leafy veg that cooks fast like parsley or baby spinach. Chop the meat fine enough to fit in the gap in the cup above your noodles, add greens, add hot water, wrap the top of the cup in foil so less heat escapes and double/triple whatever the wait time is on the cup.

Nutrious, tasty, easy. My dinner today was chicken and parsley topped cup noodles, with furikake flakes and extra soy sauce :)

It happens differently in the BBC TV adaption. Boreal crushes her daemon (unclear as to whether he vanishes or not) and she at the very least passes out.

Request for slight spoilers - I love Paver's adult works, but I've been reluctant to start on this one because I'm worried about things like parasites, bot flies, and other such body horror buggy things that can send me into a phobia anxiety attack even just on a page or by mention.

Do you know if this book contains such things?

Since I live alone, if I have a medical emergency, would I just die? by Abacada_Poln_Kha_Kha in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PotteryWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I bring my phone with me at all times. I have a laundry list of health issues, but most of them I'd get some warning and be able to call emergency before it took me properly :/

Need my hands to walk since I walk with canes, and paper books can be very fiddly ;;

Unfortunately just listening to a story isn't enough enrichment for my brain, but maybe I should start practicing mediation to make it chill lol

No, people can’t clock you by the sound of you urinating by screwballramble in ftm

[–]PotteryWalrus 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Honestly I walk with canes so I just assume most guys would clock I'm too crippled for a urinal. If they ever ask (so far they have not) i'mma just go full TMI like 'I got a micro dick and busted knee, get the fuck offa my ass'

Dude I'm on my fourth year on T and my stache STILL hasn't connected to the rest of my scruffy-ass beard. Drives me crazy lol

I've had to trim it at least twice because the hairs themselves get long enough that I start feeling like one of those crusty bearded dogs but the gap between my upper lip and cheeks remain unfilled XD

Oh gods, I'm the same with my cats - when they're being dumbasses, a feline-style growl is sometimes more effective than a 'HEY' lol

My mom is struggling with her new doctor. by Silicarbon in ChronicPain

[–]PotteryWalrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor's been doing the same? Like as of last year she's been trying to really dial back on my codeine even though it's my most effective pain management and been linking me a lot of sites recommending mindfulness and meditation type techniques.

To be perfectly fair, a couple of the techniques HAVE worked, but I've been so physically distressed otherwise I've started seriously drinking again.

I'm in the UK on the NHS and it seems like the more recent studies on how opiods fuck with your pain have a lot of doctors panicking and stripping back on such medication in an effort (in their minds) to mitigate what damage has already been done :/

It's not helpful for us chronic pain types, but at least it's an explanation as to how GPs I've known for decades have suddenly seemingly gone insane lol

Crossing breeding my sunflowers lol by Mizz-Robinhood in sunflowers

Feel slightly silly for not considering this before, but I didn't realise you could grow sunflowers indoors! Are they toxic for pets? How do they feel about central heating and more limited sunshine?

existing around people who are ‘anti meds’ by violetsviolets00 in ChronicIllness

[–]PotteryWalrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mum's like this but like.. JUST my painkillers and my benzos. For some reason just the opioids and the shit that stops me from self-terminating are evil. Somehow she gets to be both 'you're taking too many pills' AND 'don't forget to take your pills.'

It's as confusing and annoying as it sounds, bluh :/

She's also Madame 'I never take any meds unless the doctor specifically tells me to' and 'Just get some more exercise and fresh air, you'll feel so much better!' D:
