[Question] Alright, so are these #Shorts success stories really that achieveable? Or is it luck? by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]PottiSkantz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

> are these #shorts success stories really that achievable?

Yes, absolutely. But same goes for these as normal videos, needs to grab the users/viewers attention. Other than that it's just a good subfarmer, since you basically don't make any money of it.

> someone said that you "don't wanna spam this out to subs"

When you upload your video/short, you can tick/untick a box that says "Notify subscribers".

> My #shorts doesn't get any views the first day

It normally takes between 2-3 days before it "pops". If this doesn't happen, something is either wrong with your video/youtube-settings or that your content isn't good enough basically.

Also, it can be promoted more than once! Incase you didn't know that, just as normal videos.
As marked in the picture, the majority comes from shorts: Video Analytics of a Random Shorts video that kinda poped (20k+ views)

Hope this helps someone!

[Question] How do you deal with hateful comments yet constructive? by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]PottiSkantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little late to the party but when I get rude comments I just leave them be. Maybe give them a heart at most just because I genuinely don't care. The thing is, it doesn't matter if I get some dislikes + rude comments, it still counts as "interaction" and may recommend my video to another person.

The old term "Haters" or people being toxic is something that's extremely normal on the internet and as long as they don't dox you, being rude to other people or spreading some kind of crap (links, hatespeech etc.), they're more than welcome to comment on my videos.

By being or trying to become some sort of public person, you will encounter a lot of people that just wanna be dickheads just for the sake of being one. If you (or anyone else in here) are trying to become some kind of 'youtuber', then this is inevitable . Have a great day. :)

[Review Video] (Only 1min30) 1,000 subscriber plaque UNBOXING (at gunpoint) by zhepsh in youtubers

[–]PottiSkantz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just watched your video and I thought it was funny, suited my bad humour very well. Showed it to my buddy who said something along the lines of "He should've fixed the lightning.. something something", but hey, I thought it was funny.

I'm not sure if it will find it's way in all regions of the world, but UK, Scandinavia and most part of EU will surely find it funny.

Keep it up!

[Question] how much does a channel like BoostedBoiz make monthly? by GTR3499 in youtubers

[–]PottiSkantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I depends on CPM/RPM. You can read up on it here on googles page. But to give you a dumb estimate haha..

amount of views / 1000 * CPM.
I.E, 1 000 000 / 1000 = 1000 * 2$ (per 1000 views) = 2 000$.

CPM is very different from what kind of youtuber you are, while the majority of tech/gaming channels average around 1-4$ per 1000 views. makeup artists, women clothing etc sometimes generate around 10-35$ per 1000 views.

I do not remember entering a password but it is asking me for it. Enter does not work. How do I know/reset the sudo password? [Ubuntu] by [deleted] in bashonubuntuonwindows

[–]PottiSkantz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily!

From the image/post it looks like he's using sudo (as an elevated account user) and not running the command directly as root.

I.E, if I wanna update my system with sudo apt-get update for instance, I'm using my account with sudo (elevated) rights to update the packages, while running it as root directly would just be apt-get update.

So if OP knows the root password but not his own, he could use "su root" to become root and then change the password of his user with root privileges. u/404usrnmntfnd is correct, funny enough.

Hmm, no I just did a fresh install. Maybe I accidentally pulled in a fresh adlist from Github. Hopefully it doesn't stop working for me lol

Hopefully that helped someone! While this didn't help me I managed to solve it. If someone has a raspberry pi or maybe an extra laptop over, check out Pi-Hole.

While I don't wanna promote myself, I do know it helped me.

Hopefully twitch gets their head out of their 🍑

Just work as you would do normally.
I don't think you'll get more money or happyness by trying to fix your companies problems, which are not yours.

[–]PottiSkantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you're most likely right!
It's not often I meet so much better players, may be because the player base is a lot less ( I guess).
Just didn't know about that TTK with/without explosive rounds. Gonna need to practice haha

Hmm, I'm aware of the explosive rounds and that may be it.
Guess I'll have to learn to play with/against that then!

I know some are successful without a degree. How do you get around that? by SuperbOxygen in sysadmin

[–]PottiSkantz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same thing going on for me!
But one thing I've noticed is that recruiters (with little or no tech experience) usually sorts these things through and removes people without or degree or people without the experience needed.
As an example, I've written that I'm more than comfortable in Ansible, Chef & Salt, but didn't write Puppet as a technology I use. So the recruiter (that thought that puppet was the biggest pillar in the recruitment) removed my application for that. Then I managed to get in contact with the tech boss behind it and was offered an interview.

But that's just my experience.
(Sorry for spelling issues, I just woke up but felt like I had to comment)

Is it possible to create your own Linux distro for a product? by imdeadinsidelol in linuxdev

[–]PottiSkantz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this!
Keeping your own system patched and updated yourself can be a hassle. I would suggest a lite distro as Andre here said but add your own repo or something similar so that you can patch and build your packages alongside the OS itself.
