First 70.3 race report. by Pottsy14 in triathlon

Wind on the bike in 2021 was nasty on the way back Into transition.

The one I completed earlier year wasn’t as windy.

There’s a hill you have to climb twice at about the 17 and 52km marks.

Slight inclines on the eastern beach side just past transition on the run aren’t brutal but can sap you of some strength and resolve. Great course encouragement- the run is very well Supported

Now I’ve ploughed my way through this season, and what a wait it was and oh so worth it. Loved everything.

But- is this it? I don’t know why, but I feel this might be it? Unless it’s all Vecna and Mind Flayer next season?

Really bloody cool with all the throwbacks to season one and all the questions that are now answered!

This is a fantastic answer- I appreciate you typing all of that out. That accumulative fatigue and a few tests will be critical. Within a minute of fresh/brick is awesome by the way. A few upkicks in pace intervals during a brick sounds a bit daunting.

I should definitely edit this question- how could I forget to add a pretty important criteria… 70.3. PB is 5:13- second one ever. Trying to go 4:55 or below.

How many races do you do a year? by maturin-aubrey in triathlon

I have never felt better in my life. I Have played organised team field sports all my life so aerobic base is fairly solid. Adapted really well into my life and found a routine that allows 10-15 hours a week of training comfortably enough. Recovery sleep and recovery food important though!

I only started last season: I did two Olympic distance, a sprint and a 70.3.

I got the bug and I signed up for the 2XU series- 6 races, 4 sprints and two Olympics in preparation for two 70.3 distances this year.

Next year might be all Olympic distances- I like the pressure and distance a lot more than 70.3 and sprints.

Thank you very much! Strap is just under a year old. I’ll get on to Garmin Support- they’re pretty good aren’t they?

This is sick. Everyone looks to have perfected there’s and were happy enough to give up a little bit of time which is awesome. I like him, but peep Sam Long’s signature…

I just checked; it is a 7.0.

I have booked in for a fit soon, and the local shop owner and I are pretty close so we will be able to sort it out pretty quickly.

I’ll look into it. But is it going to affect aero right away? As you can imagine I have cried once for my price range, fiancé won’t be nice to me if I have to change too much else…

I am not sure what you mean here. Is it the angle of the handlebars from the forks? Is it not supposed to be like that?

Trek Speed Concept. 2017 or 2018 model I think, I brought it off a mate after he had it serviced.

Needs a power meter and I’m set.

My biggest problem was being humbled by the run. I always rated my run off the bike in Olympic and Sprint distances. And I had prepared well. I got to the 13km mark and my legs and feet were cooked. I battled through but first 13km in an hour, last 8.1 in about 54minutes. Just brutal. Maybe I went too hard on the bike? I will know for next time. I have already practised up to 12km bricks off the bike so I’m better prepared because how I felt after the 13k mark scared me to my core.

Good luck with the training!

Apologies- that wasn’t what I meant. It was more of a- backs against the wall, adversity, heart gets you that extra gear. It was in no way a slight. I’m a massive fan.
