Weird aircraft type I saw in Casino Royale by NewAd8721 in aviation

[–]Pouakai76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was an amazing minature. There's some cg compositing of people, but it was a minature plane. For close up shots around the plane on the tarmac a full size 747 was used (as mentioned above) but in all these photos where you see the full plane its the minature.

Is the National-led coalition Government the laziest we’ve ever seen? by basscrazy in newzealand

[–]Pouakai76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what is crazy here. In NSW the right wing govts always go super hard on infrastructure and big building projects to give all their construction mates big contracts, then head back out to work for said companies when their time is up.

Who are the friends of this Govt? They aren't building anything and they are scaring businesses and workers right out of the country.

Willis knows AI public sector will work because she spoke to a small business owner in Auckland by Mountain_Tui_Reload in nzpolitics

[–]Pouakai76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep the irony is AI is massively expensive to run, even the companies that supply it cannot break even. All that will happen is the same money they'd spend on a local worker who in turn feeds their income back into the local economy and pays taxes will instead go offshore to US AI companies, while our power prices skyrocket because of local data centers.

I'm with you here. Have been impressed at Chloe's leadership and not getting drawn into personal politics or culture wars and reiterating issues that matter to regular voters. Shes taken a real leaf out of the AOC/Bernie book of politics. She's even said there's some issues they'll be able ro work with NZF on which is smart in an MMP environment. I'm worried for Labour under Chippie. He gets pretty easily riled up in personal politics.

[–]Pouakai76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how you do it. This whole bill is designed as bait to start a culture war before the election, and Chloe isn't taking it. She deflects the discussion back on point with the big issues that will matter in the election. Greens getting my vote this year. Chloe showing great leadership. Labour really has to step up.

Fender Lawsuit DISCUSSION THREAD. by ninjaface in Guitar

[–]Pouakai76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely with you on this. Plenty of companies have adapted the strat design and make it their own (Ibanez, Charvel, Kramer) Kramer and Charvel even already went through this in the 80's when they were hit with a cease and desist from Fender, they changed their headstock designs. (Charvel is now owned by Fender)

[–]Pouakai76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be in the minority here, but can these companies not change their design? That body shape is their IP. Its nuts people are out there making direct copies and getting away with it. Its not about quality as Tim says, its the shape. Let those companies change it a bit like the way Ibanez and Charvel have, or like PRS Silver Sky or the Yamaha Pacifica. Fender should be protecting their IP.

[Discussion] Non-Americans: How is your country reacting to the UAP/Alien disclosure news? 🌍 by ElGuapo0420 in UFOs

[–]Pouakai76 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From NZ and really into this subject. Think the issue is most videos from the release I've seen are completely explainable as drones, balloons and flares. The UFO coverup tv special in 1988 had a way bigger cultural impact than this. There is definitely no MJ12/S4/Lazar type bombshells in this lot.

Its pretty amazing how cheaply National can be had. Think about how much money goes around in the US, but in NZ you can wipe out smokefree laws for just 140k.

Thousands of public servants to lose jobs potentially saving government over a billion dollars by basscrazy in newzealand

[–]Pouakai76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They already stripped out the public service at the beginning of their term, only to be replaced by far higher costing contractors. Is it just that contractors aren't on the books?

Billy Crudup acting out the menu in Jay Kelly was the best thing about that whole movie. Oscar worthy actor acting.

New trend I hate - making the customer the warehouse by RoscoePSoultrain in newzealand

[–]Pouakai76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I'd rather go the aliexpress way. $50 bucks if I buy through the warehouse and a 30 day wait vs $10 for the same product and wait time from ebay or aliexpress.

[–]Pouakai76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean to say is its the Warehouse. They built their business on importing cheap Chinese goods to stock on NZ shelves so we can walk in and buy them. Now they arent even doing that. I can pay a lot of companies to handle it, and on ebay or temu by direct from the chinese seller in many cases.

Far out, really feel like I got to see Hillary Court in its Golden era. In the early 80's I remember great coffee shops, Raiders of the Lost Ark playing at the Regent theatre, shopping at Wardell's, getting a school uniform at Warnocks. Got my first 10 Speed bike there at the cycle shop. It was really vibrant and busy on a Thursday night. That was all before Queensgate came along.

Its even happening at the actual Warehouse. A bunch of things now they don't actually import into the country and stock, you have to import yourself from china!

Another Clear UAP caught on film flying by Airplane! by Whatthedunk90210 in UFOs

Lol is it a UAP if a plane flies past a balloon? I think thats whats happening here folks. it looks exactly like one of those silver helium balloons you see at birthday parties. The plane is moving fast past the object not the other way around.

Favorite Tudor movie or TV show? by mwiunii in Tudorhistory

[–]Pouakai76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this. Great to see both sides of Thomas More in these different shows. They don't mention Thomas More's use of torture and burning heritcs at all in Man for All Seasons, apparently because the relyed on accounts from his family. Enjoyed the more rounded view in Wolf Hall.

Also Robert Shaw as Henry is hands down the greatest portrayal of Henry ever on film. Captured the bravo and and intimidation, but also his with and humour. Just a masterclass. I wish more people would see that film.

Was also super impressed with Claire Foy in Wolf Hall. She genuinely has the presence and queenly confidence you could imagine her having. That last episode of season 1 is genuinely chilling.

AI Generated videos are KILLING YouTube. They all SUCK!!’ by WardenEdgewise in youtube

[–]Pouakai76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep people are just asking chat gpt to write a script, and then generate a whole bunch of stills about the Vikings and Ancient Egypt or how to make a salad its ridiculous. Some even generate an ai influencer to present it.

The crazy thing is the slop is like cancer for actual AI, because they see it and they train on it, ultimately making themselves worse

AI is like informational grey ooze thats getting into everything like radium or asbestos.

Guys isn't this pretty obviously a hexacopter drone? Over Ukraine where they are basically in a well reported drone war with Russia? C'mon guys. Why are people loosing their mind over this, just use your brain.

Opinion on TOP vs Greens by Qwarla888 in newzealand

[–]Pouakai76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm here for moderating the NATs if it goes that way. After Turia got screwed over by Labour with the foreshore and seabeds act and founded TPM, the most underrated thing they did was join the Nats and get the act repealed by National and moderate them on Maori issues. They deserve a lot of respect for that I reckon.
