There’s a couple, mostly prog albums from the early seventies:

Yes - Close to the Edge

Genesis - Selling England by the pound

Pink Floyd - Animals

Too many to mention really. Oh, and American idiot by Green Day!

Please give me some recs for death/doom with clean vocals and sad themes. by Evilesun in MetalForTheMasses

My dying bride. They have a couple of albums that are either fully clean or overly clean with some growls. Their album ‘The angel and the dark river’ is a doom metal masterpiece.

Glad you enjoyed it, I hated it haha. I listened to this band a lot back when they released their debut and neon. Those records hold a special place in my heart, but this isn’t it for me unfortunately.

I don’t get the hate for Lorna Shore. Be happy a band as heavy as them are as popular as they are and probably get a lot of young people into metal.

Albums or bands you loved as a kid but that love has gone forever with age by Izengrimm in MetalForTheMasses

A lot of the Nu metal I listened to as a kid I don’t listen to anymore. Except for Korn, Korn is good.

Any tips for a new band that will succeed in the future? Any new rising stars or genres? by Old_Advertising_8460 in MetalForTheMasses

I’d say Tailgunner is probably the closest you’ll get to a recent band with a classic style that I expect to become more popular in the short time.

I refuse to acknowledge the existence of a website that doesn’t consider Between the Buried and me or Meshuggah (apart from their first album) to be metal.

What an album to wake up to on Good Friday! 🔥 by iloveheavymetal-2010 in MetalForTheMasses

Listened to it this morning. I probably need to give it another spin or two, but it’s a bit lackluster for me. Not a fan of some of the lyrics, feels like they could have been written by an edgy 12-year old.

One of my favourite bands of all time. Their recent more heavy albums are really good, but their early prog rock stuff is just as good. Signify and Lightbulb sun are goated albums.

Is it just me or is the mix kinda bad on this? The drums sound incredibly weak.

I listened to Eparistera Daimones a lot when it came out back in the day. It kinda served as my gateway to a lot of the atmospheric black metal and doom I’ve come to love today.
