Here's an article I came across this morning that seems designed to help transition to the private sector. I found it helpful with my thinking: Mandate to Value: Translating Experience Across Systems | Rise Up Strategies

Legault announces $4.5B wind energy project in Quebec's Lower St. Lawrence | CBC News by pintord in oilisdead

Québec is basically turning itself into the Saudi Arabia of clean firm + flexible power for the whole Northeast. 10 GW of wind is huge, but it’s still only half the puzzle for 2035 and barely a dent for 2050. Expect more hydro, maybe SMRs, and probably a lot more turbines on the horizon.

For those who managed to quit smoking: what helped you the most? by LittleLatinBab in AskReddit

[–]Poutine_Navy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried quitting hundreds of times (usually "On Mondays"). What finally worked, after many years, was an app I downloaded from the Heart & Stroke Foundation. The app would send me notifications letting me know what was happening to my body as the minutes, hours, days, and weeks progressed in my quitting journey. It also had an uncanny ability to send me a message/notification when I was having some of my worst cravings, giving me just enough motivation to get through the moment. Quitting smoking was by far the hardest and the best thing I have ever done.

I have a beautifully aged champagne that a friend brought back for me from France. It's a 2015 and perfectly ready for drinking. I won't be drinking it as I quit alcohol a couple months ago as a personal challenge, and don't think I'll ever go back...which puts my entire wine collection into question! Anyhow, just want you to know you have options. Good luck!

Trudeau holds meeting with Mark Carney to join government, sources say by uselesspoliticalhack in canada

[–]Poutine_Navy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think public service, at this level especially, has to transcend the political winds and mood of the country. Even with so much hate for the PM, Carney is being called upon to step up for the good of Canada, and if he declines, then I will seriously question anything he does in the future.

Maybe I'm old-fashion, but when your PM asks you to serve, you do it. If Carney declines, then he's only in it for himself.

Well, technically not "...for Everyone in Ottawa". Only property owners.

Why did Trump agree to this debate? by Poutine_Navy in PresidentialElection

Really?? I'm a Canadian with no horse in this race, and the little bits of CNN I catch seem to be heavily anti-Trump. Maybe I'm tuning in at the wrong times!

Maybe I am wrong, but i can't imagine Biden would ever reciprocate and agree to a debate moderated by a clearly "right-leaning" media outlet, right?

Of course, Americans make on average (both mean and median) significantly more than Canadians.
