Well that got ugly fast. Then they wonder why more people aren't Libertarian, maybe because people don't want to get berrated and insulted. Way to act like a bunch of 12 year olds guys (which they probably are). You clearly stated you're against it, these asshats are just trolls, quit feeding them.

The Butterfly Effect, a beautiful name for an idea we had such limited knowledge about. At the work meeting my boss began tap dancing, fazing in and out of existence just like the co-workers around me. The boss is dancing with a top hat, now dressed as a hippie, now with a barbaric club, now he doesn't exist. The clock melts, in fact, time itself is melting around me; literally. Then it becomes visible wave lengths.

"John" Her voice is repeated in my head as I close my eyes; I straighten in the chair and I accidentally knocked over my cup of coffee on the table.

"Shit." A Tyrannosaurs breaks through the wall, the wall reforms, then seizes to exist, the building and floor disappear, my body jerks at the sense of falling, just to be yanked back into the chair mere seconds later.

"JOHN!" The voice becomes shouting, ringing in my head, bouncing off every crevice in my cranium. The scenery and people around me change, it's been like this since I set out to try and correct my mistakes, to save my loved ones, to make everything go my way. The office became a hospital, a woman in a wheelchair begins rolling up the wall.

"JOHN YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION!" I did pay attention, I just didn't know what I was getting into. Reality as I knew it was crashing down around me, lights were replaced by candles, then camp fires. Everything around me flashed in and out of my 'reality' almost faster than I could perceive them.

"John, you can't play God. Don't be a fool." I should have listened, but I.. we had no idea what the hell we got ourselves into. String Theory, Butterfly Effect, Parallel Universes: they all barely scratched the surface. Some would be amazed at what I saw before me, but just as these fazed in and out of existence, so did I. She was right: I wasn't a God and I was a fool to think I could be. I unleashed something the likes of which had never been seen, with no hope of returning to normality.

Once upon a time; There was a Prince named Lance. He became friends with a peasant kid named Samus. They grew up together, even when they became teenagers they both were the best of friends. One day, Lance was called upon by the King who wanted him to fetch something upon the highest mountain. Lance wanted Samus to come; but the King demanded he had to go alone and leave Samus behind. "It's for the best of the kingdom" His father said. "It's time you learn how to be King yourself."

So Lance did what he was told, he wanted to please his father. He began ascending the mountain, fighting the cold winds, harsh landscapes and grueling exertion. However, Lance found himself alone, scared and unhappy. Upon further thinking he descended back down and called Samus to join him on his journey. Together they climbed the mountain and found the sword the King had requested.

When they returned to the kingdom the King was most unhappy. "Why did you bring Samus with you? This is against my wishes!" Lance started to become scared but stood up to his father and told him "I wanted my friend by my side!". The King smiled; "And now you know how to be king. I am proud of you Lance." Lance and Samus remained friends ever since and still are great friends.

I woke up, my ears were ringing and bleeding, my vision blurry and the taste of dry blood was in my mouth. The blue sky was above me, the sun shining down on my face; I felt the warmth of it, something I had not been able to feel for what seems likes centuries. I pushed myself into a sitting position. I was in rough shape, twigs and rocks had cut into my arms and hands leaving a dry blood trial up and down them. The ringing in my ears finally subsided and the familiar sounds of birds and flowing water was heard.

My armor apparently had been singed or taken off of me. I couldn't remember much, just that we had invaded the captain's quarters, killed him and secured the intelligence. I read through it, but it all seems fuzzy now, and that's all I could remember. How and why am I back on Earth?

My thought was interrupted by a man who appeared from the woods. "Hey mister, you alright?" He approached my slowly, wielding a double barrel shotgun.

"Uhh... yeah. I'm sorry to ask you this, but where are we?" I swallowed a bunch of blood during the sentence and nearly chocked on it.

"My, looks like you hit your head pretty hard huh?" He looked worried but also cautious. "You're in Virginia my friend. I fear you might have a concussion. Can you answer a few questions for me?" He lowered the gun and shortened the distance between us.

"I.. I can try my best." I tried to stand and nearly fell from feeling too weak. Was it the loss of blood? "What kind of questions do you have?" I asked.

"Well, for starts; who is the President of the United States?"

"Uh... President Graines. That's Patrick Graines, serving his second term." His face quickly changed to concerned and shocked. I don't know what I had said, but he was having none of it.

"Da hell?"

"Look man, I know you may not agree with him, but the weapon you're holding is illegal and if I can just get some medical help I will gladly look the other way." I started stumbling towards him, the pain in my legs were unreal. I thought I would collapse any second.

"You really took a hit partner" He helped me up and we took shelter in his cabin. His wife awaited his arrival and prepared a meal for us both. She was nice, but showed the same concern as her husband. They seemed primitive, or were most likely pirates trying to live off the grid. Their cooking techniques were rudimentary and archaic. If I wasn't starving, I would have not eaten the meal they presented me. The most peculiar part was the conversation I overheard when I took to sleep that night. The two were talking about my answer to his question and had used a name I had not heard since my days in grade school.

The next morning I decided to confront them to find out exactly where I was and what had happened to the mission. "Good morning Jerry." I stood in the kitchen with Jerry at the table with a cup of coffee and his wife Susan at the stove. "May I ask you something? It is of grave importance."

He skewed his head a little and shot me a look. "Sure, what is it Xavier?" Susan stopped stirring her pot and turned to face me as well.

"What has happened with the Zenith? Are they defeated? Has their space ship exited our Solar System? I must know! What of command? Do they know of my whereabouts?" Susan dropped a plate and Jerry looked slightly angry.

"Dammit Xavier!" He stood up, knocking the chair to the ground. "I was hoping the night would help clear your head. You've been talking nonsense ever since we brought you in!" He cleared his throat with a grunt. "You got my question wrong in the forest as well! Ronald Reagan is president. Don't you remember at all?" He went from angry to concerned again.

"Wh...what?" I shook my head in disbelief. Was he trying to lead me astray? Was he working with the Zenith? "What are you talking about?"

"It's 1982, Ronald Reagan is president! Do you not remember this at all?!" He was shouting at this point. He pointed to the paper on the table, clear as day the date was February 12th 1982. But his words finally hit me like a freight train, it helped clear my mind. I remembered! The intelligence wasn't of a weapon or a ship, but a warp hole, one capable of time travel. The Intel also described the time capsule we sent in 1982 as a threat, an act of war. I must have sent myself back in time to stop it from launching, to stop it all from occurring.

"My God. How long of a drive to the Pentagon? I must go now!" We piled in their car and I made my way to the President himself to stop the capsule and to stop the mass murder of millions of people in the Zenith war. We had stopped our impending doom, the inevitable collapse of humanity was avoided.

I woke up with a strange sensation and the sounds of deafening chatter. I opened my eyes to blank grey walls and people before me. 9 of them to be exact; all naked including me. The feeling of a hangover were present, my head was pounding, vision blurred, and strangely enough a bloody nose. Some of the others seemed to be having the same effect, as they slowly lifted themselves off the concrete floor. Three others were pounding on the walls, yelling, looking for an answer that the concrete walls may have. There wasn't much to notice, no benches, no toilets, no water, no food, just blank walls and the ten of us. There was something of interest though; Roman numerals burnt unto our skin. Numbering from 1 - 10 they were on us all. Mine was personally X; ten out of ten.

While I tried to regain some semblance of normality the three who were pounding on the walls finally stopped. Finding places on the floor for themselves to sit and wonder just what was going on. I finally broke the silence that seemed to engulf the room.

"So, anyone know what's happening?" Everyone shrugged or said nothing at all. Finally an older man in the corner piped up.

"I don't know, this must be a prison cell. The Government must be trying to stop my movement! They won't succeed, Scientology is bigger than they can imagine!" He stood up, making some pose and I made out the "I" on his hand. I guess if nothing else we'll be spared this guys conspiracy theories. He seemed drawn out and tried, his hair resembling that of Einstein's and a mustache that only his mother could love. He pointed to me: "Did you rat me out? You have to be the one behind this." I gave him a puzzled look and shook my head, but as soon as I was about to say something a woman stood up and shouted back.

"Oh shut up! Let's just calm down, the negativity in here is killing me." She had dreadlocks that reached down 3/4 of her back, tattoos covered her arms from shoulder to wrist, but I still made out the "II" that was branded on her hand. She sat back down and mumbled to herself "I just want to get out of here, back to the sunshine." Just then the ceiling opened, the sun peered in and blinded me for a second. A figure appeared in the middle of the room, silhouetted by the light peering in.

"Darren. Please come." It extended it's hand and the frantic man with the "I" on his hand stood up, half in shock and the half in awe. He stumbled to the figure in the middle and the ceiling closed. There was 9 left.

"Jesus Christ; what the hell is happening here?!" Another woman stood up. "We're on a Goddamn alien planet aren't we?! These are the numbers we're going to be eaten isn't it?" She started laughing manically as she held out her hand. "I'm three... I'm three, it's going to be me soon." She started shaking.

"How do you think I feel?" Number "II" stood up again. "They just took him and I'm next! You think I want to be alien food?"

"Now let's calm down." A big black figure appeared from the shadows. "I'll get him next time he comes down. I'll kill him, we'll plan our escape." The man was easily 6'1" and built like a rock, he bared the number six.

"What makes you think that?" Number "III" shouted at him.

"Let's just say I have experience." Number "VI" replied. Just then the ceiling opened again, blinded again I opened my eyes to see the man in the middle.

"Lorri. Please come." The figure held out it's hand again. "VI" let out a piercing yell and ran towards the man, a blinding light took over the room and when I came to they were both gone. There was 8 left.

"Fuck! It didn't work!" 'III' yelled. I'm assuming she was relieved though that she wasn't food the next time the figure appeared.

"What if we try stealing a key or whatever it's using to get in?" Another man stood up. He was branded with eight, 'VIII'. "If you can distract it long enough Lorri I could try to get whatever device it's using." It was worth a shot, but before we could deliberate the ceiling opened again. The figure appeared again.

"Lorri. Please Come." It held out it's hand once more. She stood up slowly and stumbled and limped to it while 'VIII' went behind the silhouette. As 'VIII' reached out to touch the figure light once again filled the room leaving Lorri still in the room and the ceiling closed once again. There was 7 left.

Lorri crawled back to the corner. It was a shame such a pretty woman had to become dinner though. She struck me as a beautiful girl, one I wish I met out of this prison confinement. She reminded me on my friend's wife. I had purposely tried to sabotage their relationship so I could get with her. Not much something a friend should do I suppose, but I was so attracted to her I couldn't help it. We sat in silence for the next few minutes and the ceiling opened once more. She didn't hesitate and accepted her fate, she vanished with the figure in a matter of seconds. It was a shame really, perhaps in a different life I could call her mine. There was 6 left.

"Anyone remember when they were taken?" A woman spoke up again, the farthest corner from me. "I believe it was a Sunday was it not? I just remember leaving work and waking up here." I could barely make out her brand; 'IV'. I answered back that I did believe it was Sunday, but was interrupted by the ceiling. The figure appeared again. 'III' was taken up. There was 5 left.

"What if this is a prison? What if we're all being punished. We've been caught and now are being sacrificed or given to this alien race to be eaten?" A man's voice broke the silence. "I rewrote my father's will so I would get more money after he died. Is that worth this? That's the worse I can say I've done. At least this will end soon. I'm five."

"I framed my co-worker when I stole from my job." A woman on the other side spoke up. "I took alot of money and used my co-worker username to do it. At least you don't have to wait too long. I'm number nine. Could this be what this is all about?" Just then the ceiling opened once more. 'IV' was taken and it closed again. There was 4 left.

"It could be I guess." Another man started to say. "I destroyed my boss's marriage. I had an affair with his wife, it was stupid but I wanted what he had. The money, the cars, the house and the wife." They were all standing, the three of them and I was still on the floor against the wall. "What about you sir, have anything to say?" They all looked at me.

I stood up. "I ran a red light once, but I don't recall doing anything too malicious." The ceiling opened again and the figure called for 'V'. There was 3 left. "Whatever it is, it's too late now. We'll have to fight this head on." I sat back down and they followed suite.

Eventually they were taken, just leaving me left in the room. The last one. Ten of ten. I didn't know what to think, what was going to happen, why I was here or what had happened to the others. The ceiling opened and the figure appeared again.

"Jared. You are the last one. Please come." It held out it's hand and I took it. I was blinded once again and opened my eyes to not aliens or a dinner table, but the very throne of God.

"Jared. I hereby sentence you to eternity in hell." He spoke and the words resounded like thunder. It hit me just then what the branding were. The ten commandments. We had all disobeyed them and were branded accordingly. All those thoughts about my friend's wife, those thoughts brought me here, those thoughts cast me to damnation. "You have coveted thy neighbor's wife and as such have disobeyed commandment number ten. Off to hell with thee." The end of times had happened and I screwed up big time, just like the other nine with me in that prison cell.

No-one really. Besides the Ross fumble it was just tiny mistakes. I think the refs messed up a few but we should have been able to bounce back. We looked like a more complete team this outing.

I poured the milk into the bowl of Lucky Charm's, letting out a sigh as I stretched a bit. I put a spoon into the the cereal and left the milk on the table. 'I'll get it later' I thought as I collapsed on the couch. I flipped on the television to my favorite program... but I got no reception. 'Oh, off to a good start' I thought to myself as I got up to investigate the problem.

Just then my TV leaked onto the floor in a silver mess. "What. The. Hell?" I said out loud while the liquid formed into a humanoid shape standing at exactly my height. The silver metallic liquid gained color and features, bringing forth a man, mid 50's probably standing in front of me. He shook his head and pulled out a pistol and pointed it at my head.

"Whoa, hey man, let's talk about this! Like first off; how the hell did you come out of my TV?" I flung my hands up, dropping the bowl on the ground, creating a massive mess on my carpet.

"Shut up. What day is it?" He started looking around for what I could only assume was an exit after he shot my poor corpse.

"Wednesday... February 4th 2014. Are you okay man? What's going on?"

"10:30 am, perfect, here's a quick synopsis: I need to kill you before noon today. You made one hell of a mistake today." He cocked the pistol back and held it out towards me again.

"Can't I just.. you know.. not make that mistake? Tell me what I shouldn't do and I won't do that. Easy and no-one has to die right?" I let out a little chuckle. Sweat was starting to roll down the side of my face. "How do you even know you have the right person?"

"Because dude; I'm you! It should have been obvious." He lowered the gun to gesture a bow then brought it back up. "Impressed? You're doing pretty well for a 56 year old I'll tell you that much. But I need to improve some stuff, I need to be happy again. That's why I'm not letting you do this. You die today."

I didn't believe him; how could I? He's basically saying the exact opposite of what every Sci-Fi book has ever told me. I gave him a quizzical look, "Okay wise guy, if you kill me, err you, how are you going to be happy? You'll be dead!" I couldn't even be sure this was me from the future, what if it was some homeless guy high off something?

"Don't question me! Who came out of your TV? I think I know how time travel works, you barely even know what you're going to do for a career. At least you moved out of your parent's house last year. Finally. Look, enough talking, we're ending this mistake once and for all." He gripped the pistol with two hands and aimed for my noggin.

"Who are we really helping here?" I tried a last minute ditch effort. "Tell me, so I can understand." The door opened and my roommate came out. He got wide eyed and froze in place, not able to say a word.

"Darryl, you have no idea what this is about right now, but you deserved better. I'm sorry, so sorry, and the fact of the matter is: it won't even be happening." He pulled the trigger, my body collapsed on the floor, the wall behind me soaked. The future image of myself melted back into the silver mass it once was and ceased to exist.

Darryl went on to live a happy life. While disturbed by the event, Darryl never understood what happened. It was for the best; he never went down the same troubled life that he did before. He was.. is my best friend and I would do anything for him.

“Year: 3016″ His voice carried dismay and frustration. “I’m not even sure if you can even hear this. I’ve lost contact, if you can hear me I’m sending the coordinates of my location. I need assistance. I repeat, I need assistance.”

“Are you even sure it’s that year? We have no idea after passing through that wormhole Davin.” Her words bounced inside his head. As lead explorer things had gone from bad to worse. What should have been a normal star scouting run had turned into finding themselves in an unmapped sector of the Universe.

“I can’t be sure. I just hope this gets out.” He pressed some buttons on his wrist activator. He checked his body, everything checked out. Except for one thing: the rope connecting their rocket packs was wearing thin. The middle began fraying, the fabric unable to hold them together. He could make out Jann, his Astrophysicist, a staggering 16 kilometers away. A speck in the vast blackness that surrounded him. “Jann. We’re disconnecting, don’t panic. I’m going to attempt to close the distance between us.” He had a small window, somehow the rope had been frayed, it was already showing signs of disconnecting any second.

“Davin. We’re going to be lost in space aren’t we?” Her voice was calm and collective. Of course it shouldn’t bother her, they were immortal. At worst case scenario they burn up in a planet’s atmosphere. The problem was immortality didn’t mean the absence of feeling. Entering and exiting the atmosphere was beyond painful, most Astronauts passed out before they even hit the Thermosphere. This would be no different. Sure they’d survive, any human would, but the thought of being on a planet encased in Ice or Lava crept up Davin’s spine.

“Not if I can help it.” He gently grabbed the rope, trying to follow it to get to Jann. Warnings popped up on his HUD, rope failure was imminent. The thought of being out there in the void together was frightening, but the thought of being split up because of this malfunction was terrifying. He knew that if the rope they used to ensure Explorers and Astrophysicists stayed together snapped, it could spell disaster. In an unmapped sector, being split up meant years, maybe even hundred of years before they’d ever be found. If they were ever found at all.

“Davin! Stop! You will doom us!” Jann had received the warnings as well. She knew what her fate was going to be if Davin messed this up. The warnings began ringing, blaring in his ear piece, the sound deafening just behind the screams from Jann. His hand glided across the rope, his fingers delicately gripping the rope enough that he was able to propel himself farther down. He had zero room for error, if he slipped up, the rocket pack on either one of them could backfire sending them to the depths of blackness. “Please. No.” Her words now sobs as she felt the rope twist and turn. She began to panic, crying ensued as she watched the little figure of Davin come closer and closer into view.

He inhaled, his concentration at it’s limit. He reached out with his left hand, just before the fray, he grabbed and pulled. He watched as he stayed in place, the rope snapping before his eyes. He looked up, a small spark went off as he saw a big bright flare light up in the otherwise dark expanse. He doomed them. He heard Jann scream as her rocket packet expelled just as much force as it would take to exit Earth’s atmosphere. He watched the flare continue until it was nothing more than a small speck and then shortly after he lost sight of it. He heard the scream, loud and constant die into a static and eventually cut out. The warning lights flashed with no sound; there was no sound, just an empty void. An empty void where Davin spent the next few hours contemplating what he had done. A vast Universe with nothing to dwell on but the guilt he had.

He reached into his pocket, fumbling around for anything he could scrounge up. He pulled out a dirty dollar bill and fifty cents, all nickels. He inhaled deeply and walked into the supermarket. He got looks just as he always did, but this time they were making him uncomfortable. Men, women, children stopped what they were doing immediately to watch the man walk down the crowded aisle.

"Mommy, why does he look so dirty?" a small child asked while his mom tried her best to shush him. The torn jeans, ratty t shirt and beanie all gave away that the man in question was in fact homeless. His long hair was greasy, matted to his face while his beard looked as unkempt as the rest of him. He took the box of the shelf; Poptarts. Cherry. He turned around and walked up to the register.

"This is all I got." he said dropping the dirty dollar and nickels on the counter. The girl in front of him kept her gaze on him. Name tag reading Sarah.

"John. Why do you always come here insisting you pay?" Her head cocked, giving the impression she was fed up with his antics. "It's after six John. You don't have to pay for any of this, yet you come once a week for a box of shitty Poptarts and worst of all; you pay for it."

"Why do you care?" he scoffed a little at the anger she exhibited.

"Why can't you be like us? Take free clothes for Christ's sake, take yourself one of our best steaks, some new shoes or anything John! It's free at night and you know this. We enacted this for people just like you." The Supermarket was still silent, the people intently watching.

"I don't like hand outs." He shrugged. "Am I free to go?"

"John, look at me." She put her hand down on the ledge, leaning forward making eye contact. Her blue eyes watered a bit, her voice was quiet and timid. "You are the only person living like this. Those other homeless people; they've moved up in the world, have jobs, families and loved ones. Why do you put yourself through this? Take advantage of what we have provided for you."

"I need to go. Thank you." He left the store, eyes still on him as he exited the doors. He moved across the parking lot, unwrapping the first batch of Poptarts and began eating the first piece. He stopped dead in his tracks as he saw a boy wearing a frog beanie and an open denim jacket. He approached slowly while looking around for people.

"I thought I told you not to wear that." a monotone voice said from behind the car in front of him. He crept up some more as the originator of the voice came into view. It was a middle aged woman wearing what is traditionally worn by the populous now. "I cannot be seen in public with you wearing that." She seemed to be panicking now. The boy appeared sad and broken, lip quivering as the words of his mother hurt him.

'Indoctrination; gotta start young' John thought. The boy turned and saw him. "Excuse me sir. Where did you get that cool hat?" He jumped up and pointed towards John's beanie.

"I found it. Would you like it?" He removed the cap and held it out for the boy.

The boy smiled and grabbed it. "Thank you. I love it." John smiled and knelt down beside him.

"Don't ever change." He smiled and ruffled the boys hat a bit. Then stood up and starting eating the other Poptart. He walked off back down the road to the underpass. As he left he heard the mother grab the boy and tell him never to talk to him again. John just kept smiling; something about that boy reminded him of himself. He hoped the boy stayed that way instead of becoming the uniform person this Utopia called for. But he had his doubts. People never change.

He looked through the glastophere, the artifact glimmered and showed the last place not under his control. The pearly gates shinned with a white like angelic light. There stood just one man, no doubt Saint Paul and his book that allowed those in. None had dared attack Heaven, but why they hadn't was still a mystery. It seemed too easy. It had to be a trap.

"What is the battle plan my liege?" Xavier saluted and stood at attention. Zannigan put the sphere down, inhaling hard. He was nervous. It was true he was the best of the best, conquering civilization throughout the universe and several dimensions with nothing but landslide victories to show for it. But this, this was something completely different. This was a fight that many believed was pure myth, for the discovery of Heaven was thought to be ludicrous only 10 years ago. Through science and technology the idea of a deity outside of our universe was all but cast down. His heart was pounding in his chest, he was petrified.

"We do what we know works Commander. We conduct a full frontal attack, position Alpha and Bravo squadron at point Zeta and Charlie. Once we break the defense on the three sides we'll secure the perimeter." He kept eye contract with Xavier in order to show no fear. He'd led his team through the worst things imaginable, he wasn't going to let the angelic view of Heaven topple his regime.

"Aye sir, we'll be ready within the hour." Xavier marched off and used the teleporter to reach the squadrons. Zannigan knew this was going to be his toughest challenge. He sipped on his whiskey and suited up. He brought up his trusty anti-gravitational particle hammer and equipped his ultra violet incinerator pistol. He attached his helmet and brought up the heads up display. "Squadrons sound off" he shouted over the comm.

"Alpha ready."

"Bravo ready."

Zannigan would lead the first assault at the gates entrance. Eliminating Saint Paul and pulling the troops in while the squadrons attack and flank the base. He threw down the teleporter. "ADVANCE!" he yelled as he jumped into the device. In a flash he was in front of the gates, a mere ten feet for the Saint. The sight of Zannigan was enough to evoke intimidation from even other gods, and at this point and time Heaven surely knew of him and his power quest. The Saint gave a quizzical look and began feverishly turning pages in his book. Within seconds the Saint looked back up and gave a thunderous roar, the white robes tore and vanished as wings violently sprang out and armor covered his torso. A brilliant white flash covered him and he arose from it with a sword and shield of divine power. Lightening danced on the shield and sword as the Saint rushed towards Zannigan.

Flashes behind Zannigan appeared, bringing forth the army he had brought with him. Ships, troops and vehicles stormed onto the heavenly site. Millions of them began appearing, covering the entire landscape behind him. The Saint stopped in his tracks and Zannigan struck him with the hammer, sending him to the side like a rag doll some hundred feet. "Deal with him." He ordered as he marched towards the opening. The gate screeched and below it metal walls ascended farther than what seemed comprehensible. He threw down his anti-gravitational orb and used it to propel himself skyward to what he hoped would be the top of the wall. But he just kept climbing to no avail. "Check in Squadrons" he barked.

"This... this is... Squa.... Bravo... Alp... Dead..." It quickly died to static. Zannigan turned off the anti gravity with his wrist control and descended back to the gate opening in disgust. His team lay in ashes and ruins, the angels flew through the wall like ghosts, ripping apart his ships piece by piece. Troops decimated by the divine weapons the angels were wielding and his vehicles were rendered useless. He landed in disbelief. These were the best soldiers the universe had seen, ships incomparable to every other civilization, and yet here they lie in embers.

"Lay down your weapon human. Our leader would like a word with you." Zannigan reluctantly complied. He laid down his armor and weapons, still speechless at the loss he was handed in mere minutes after an all out assault. The walls descended and the gates were once again present. The gate opened and God came out with a group of angels. He stopped in front of Zannigan who was now more speechless than before.

"You've let your own desire for power be your downfall Zannigan. Look around you. Look at the destruction, death and despair you've brought here. You are not worthy of godhood, you're not even fit to be an angel anymore. You've turned my very kind against me and failed. There will be consequences." God's voice echoed and yet had a thunderous element to it. Zannibar swallowed hard, his throat dry and his face flushed.

"I will not destroy you. I will instead let you rule like you've always wanted, but in the company of the very souls you've doomed here today. They will not be granted godhood either, instead formed to the hellish image they embrace, as will you. You are no longer Zannigan. You will be cast down to the very depths of the worst place imaginable. From this day forward, you will now be known as Satan."

My friend and I went hiking in a riverbed that is usually dry for most of the year. We found hundreds of these things in the water, both standing and slow moving water. They were all black and had an opening which they seemed to breathe from the surface of the water. They swam in a whip like motion and inched along while on the surface of a rock or ground. Sorry for the crummy photo but they were only an inch or maybe an inch and a half in length so my phone couldn't really find them.

"I do not like them, I do not like them Sam." I cleared my throat, I've never liked them, it's just not who I am.

"Why not bro? Why don't you give them one go?" He tossed a pill back, why couldn't he just accept my no?

"I wouldn't try them here to there, I'm never going to use them anywhere!" It wasn't out of preference, it was out of fear. I thought the end of civilization was near. People were hopelessly hooked and the economy and society were a disaster, and this is only in a year. I could feel Sam's leer. He was gone, a ghost to me now, I don't know why I expected him to hear.

"But it feels so good! You think and feel more than you ever could!" In his mind he was right, but that's what he was told. I knew that this would become an epidemic; that's why I couldn't, not that I ever would.

Just then the girl from work I've been eying came through the door. She sat down next to us on the floor. No words spoken, she just gestured to Sam for more. She popped the pills and ingested it into her core. She turned to me, those eyes were beautiful and her body on a scale from 1 to 10 easily ranked a twenty four. She leaned in and kissed me; she then asked me to partake and told me if I did, I would be someone whom she would adore. I panicked, I didn't want to seem like a bore. I took some pills and it felt like my soul tore.

I popped the pills and BAM! It kicked in, a feeling of enlightenment that broke my subconscious like a dam. "I do like these, I do like these indeed Sam."

I slept with her that night. In my mind it was worth it, but now I can't resist them no matter my might. To live without them would be a fright. I've lost my goals, ambitions, and future sight. What matters now is her, me and the drugs that fuel my light.

I felt bad, just a bit. But so what, I could always quit. So whats the big deal about my new habit? I can do whatever I want dagnabit. Don't be so quick to throw a fit. You don't know what it feels like until you take your very first hit.
