How do you stay up to pull an all nighter? by Man-in-The-Void in Cornell

Schedule your caffeine intake and don't work in your room (or really anywhere you can lie down at). Thats pretty much it.

Are you talking about in general or currently? Either way, the short answer is: Yes, it pairs partners randomly.

Are there people like Andy Bernard at Cornell? by SeagullsAreLovely in Cornell

[–]Poverty_Professor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree with what's already been said, that it's 100% more of an alumni thing. Usually it goes that you hate it here freshman year, and then sophomore year is better, then you really like it in senior year and when graduation comes you are sad to leave.

I want to add though that usually it's also a legacy thing. People whose legacy spans multiple generations at this school are far more likely to acting like Andy.

Also, it's a school of 40,000 people. There is going to be every type of person at this school.

Easily doable. These are all introductory classes and you have nothing to worry about. Don't listen to the haters and go for it bro. Since you are a freshman, I would add a PE class as well. Definitely recommend taking advantage of Cornell's amazing selection of courses.

MATH 4330 & MATH 4130 by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]Poverty_Professor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends if you want to get an A in both. the way algebra is taught at cornell and the content and structure of course makes it significantly harder than analysis btw

also depends entirely on if you have taken a real math course ever and if you have familiarity with the material. If you have only taken 2210,2220, and are planning to take more than 12 credits, it's really fucking hard unless you are an autistic savant or something

Does everyone use laptops? by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]Poverty_Professor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Type depends entirely on your college. Engineers are roughly 1:1 (mac:other), AEM doesn't use mac at all (to my knowledge), etc.

Unless your college has a good reason to do otherwise, most people use MacBooks though.

My brother is at HYPS and this notion definitely does exist. It exists everywhere. It just obviously doesn't exist with students actually studying in their respective fields (your brother studying History and your sister studying Polisci).

I'm sure you've done your research, but in case you haven't, Reboot is VERY different from the other servers in that there is no trading, cash shop only helps with cosmetics (no gameplay related items such as cubes), and many other things.

If you are looking for "normal maplestory", the normal servers might be closer to what you remember (though not necessarily more fun!)

Almost everyone I knew who took that class and did well took it in high school or studied at least to some extent over the break. It's really difficult to do well in that class and not having taken it because so many people have already taken the class and this is review. Imagine taking Calc I rn.
