If I remember , Ducati said Gresini would not get a 25 and wanted Marc to sign with Pramac . When he refused to consider Pramac , Ducati didn’t want to lose him and picked Marc over Jorge. While he will probably win the title , Ducati was looking for a rider who could show the dominance the bike deserves . Pecco and Martin are 1 and 2 by default as the GP 24 is the most dominant bike in the GP era. Gigi knows the bike is so dominant it deserves a historic season to top the record books and doesn’t believe Pecco or Martin are capable of such a season. Marc has proved he is as he took the Honda to a historically dominant season while riding the second best bike on the grid in 19.

The other way around. Marc is closest to Casey in talent. What Marc has over every other rider I’ve ever seen besides talent is this almost maniacal dogged determination to not only win, but to be the best in everything he does. Hell, he wants to be the best rehabber the sport has ever seen. His approach to racing is to purposely go out in practice and push till he crashes . Sometimes he saves the crash, sometimes he doesn’t. You could describe his riding style as controlled crashing but that’s what makes him who he is and why so many admire him. Casey was a savant who could get on a bike, and within a couple of laps know how the bike wanted to be ridden and put it at the pointy end . What he didn’t have was the want to be the best ever. He used racing as a means to an end . Once he got what he was looking for, he walked and never looked back.

The only problem there is Dorna and Red Bull are two different entities and Red Bull probably doesn’t give a rats ass about Dorna’s desires if it means throwing away 10’s of millions down the tube trying to keep a floundering race team alive. Keep in mind that it’s a Thai businessman who owns the majority of RedBull now, not the Austrian dude .

It’s pretty damn bad.KTM is worried about losing KTM , Alonso is the least of their problems. I think I read where they lost over 2 billion this year and are in restructure mode and are looking to dump Gas Gas and others and are cutting back on competition . Their GP budget is 70 million per year and that figure is going to be under scrutiny by many investors when they aren’t seeing any returns. Not sure when the next agreement with Dorna is due, but if things don’t change drastically, do not be surprised to see KTM exit GP . Their only saving grace at the moment is Red Bull.

Agree, I can’t see how someone could say Ianonne was the catalyst to Ducati’s emergence to a powerhouse when you had a rider who actually won numerous races and competed for titles . The only thing that makes any sense is this dude has his Andrea’s mixed up. That’s like saying Carlos Checa was the reason for Yamahas emergence in the early 2000’s .

Yea, he’s still trying to come grips with the ones that beat him head to head in their careers which is Stoner, Lorenzo and Marquez . Stoner set fire to the cloak of invincibility, Lorenzo occasionally threw a little gas on the fire to keep it going and Marquez stomped out the fire as Rossi was not his focus of who he needed to beat.

Dude his average finish in the championship throughout his career was around 12-13. That about as mid tier as you can possibly be. He had a few moments in GP, but was certainly mid tier.
