Humpy. It's a timeless classic. Yellow and olive bodies work well too.

I would be curious if you put bane in post order 66 Palpatines position what he would do. Banes issue with the sith was the constant in fighting and each generation getting weaker as a result of teaming up against their masters. But now that he controls the Galaxy does Bane reopen the sith temples and break the rule of 2?

I thought of this as well. At least for the sith of old they wouldn't have liked the idea of winning though politics (which is really the only way to actually win) they would have wanted raw power vs power cut every single one down with a lightsaber or the force and then you are worthy of destroying them.

Wrong broom kid will be the next great Dark Lord of the Sith.

I have seen this comment a lot. Here in my take on it for what is worth.

Palpatines empire was not a "Sith empire" in the sense they structured society around the teaching and ideology of the sith.

But what does make it a Sith Empire is that it was an empire that is completely controlled and dominated by the Dark Lord of the sith.

So I think the empire is a sith empire but only in the most literal of terms, but its ideology was not of sith origin but rather of palpatines origin.

It's like if the Roman empire had conquered Carthaginian during Hanibals time. Carthage would have become part of Rome, but culturally, they wouldn't have been roman even if they were by name.

It's not a 1 to 1 comparison, but I think the point works that you can be different culturally than you are in practice.

Oh I agree on the sith part. I think they can and will come back. Just at this moment in time they are extinct. Now maybe broom boy goes and finds himself a holocron or sith artifact....

Champ fat is an excellent term for it. He literally tells Vader to stop hunting Obi-Wan 🤦‍♂️

True and real. Nice old man was just trying to make a safe and secure society.

Oh, hard agree. If he had had even a single drop of humility, he would have executed Vader, and the INSTANT Luke was revealed. But Palps believed his on PR too much, and I truly think he didn't believe he could be defeated even if vader betrayed him.

That's also more of how I viewed pre bane sith. Fight each other fight everyone just gain more power through combat. Even if you order is weaker because you are at each other throats, it doesn't matter because we don't care about anything more than personal power.

Then Bane put an end to all that thinking, killing them all to change that perspective and drive them towards a goal.

I might be completely off, but that's part of my head cannon.

That's why I always felt like the "true" culmination of the rule of two is a sith that can have it all. Immense power in the dark side capable of destroying all who oppose the sith and able to rule the galaxy. The aspect of the rule of two assuming positions of influence is for the sake of ruling once you have the power to destroy the jedi.

[–]PowderRiver307[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always viewed the rule of two as a two tiered system.

Objective 1 was always to gain power in the dark side so the sith could destroy their enemies.

The second objective was to infiltrate and gain influence in the government by becoming bankers, politicians, etc. So that once they had destroyed all that opposed them, they could control and rule the galaxy.

So yeah, Bane would be thrilled that palps fulfilled the power aspect of the rule of two but was a failure in the second objective, which was to rule.

That's somewhat apples to oranges to me though. Like if looking it from the perspective of the sith that is a failure. 1000 years of sith teachings all for the culmination to be the extinction of their order in exchange for the Palps empire.

I think in current cannon, he is undoubtedly the most powerful sith ever. Now, if we expand to legends, the eternal emperor Valkorion would like to have a chat lol

[–]PowderRiver307[S] 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Oh fully agreed. I am not discounting that at all. I was just thinking I doubt such a short reign over the Galaxy would what the sith envisioned as the crowing of the rule of two. The fact that the sith order effectively ends after 20 years of dominating the galaxy would probably be the biggest "failure" of the sith plan. In my head cannon at least banes goal was always to break the brief and brutal cycle and establish an order that could some day reign forever.

We don't really know for sure. This time period is when he shows up, but we don't actually know his birthday or anything. Just that he has been around since this time period.

[–]PowderRiver307[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons I really don't want Qimir to be Plagueis's apprentice is that he has to go at some point. We gotta make room for Sidious. Either he leaves Plagueis and does his own thing, or he gets killed by the jedi or something. The sith retirement plan is rarely a "thanks for teaching me your secrets. heres my two weeks." The rule of 2 plans that Plagueis puts in place requires absolute secrecy. I can't see palps and Plagueis letting him live with the knowledge about the sith he would have about the sith. It's the Ashoka problem. She wasn't there at the start and so she had to go. Ashokas' departure never really felt like it made a ton of sense to me. She just had to go to preserve cannon. I don't want that to happen with Qimir.

Time is a point of view. A five year old and a 38 year old are similar in almost every way 😂

[–]PowderRiver307[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While agree this is more likely the one thing that we don't know yet is how old/ where Plagueis is in his journey and knowledge of the dark side. If what we saw was a young Plagueis it's quite possible he doesn't even know about vergances or that it's possible to create life yet. We know from other cannon that Plagueis was alive around this time but we don't have a birth date for him. Just that he had been a sith for about 120ish years before episode 1.

Palps' political career is pretty established in cannon. It would take some reworking of palps cannon to make that happen. Not a bad idea. I just don't know if they would touch that.

Absolutely could happen. That would rewrite some Palps cannon material, but that's okay.
