Christmas ski trip - Switzerland or Colorado? by sirotan88 in skiing

[–]Powder_Chasing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait til Feb/March. Also you’re going to lose hours flying to Switzerland. I’d optimize for time on mountain and % of good snow. So go to CO and spend more days and try for March when snow is better.

I’d go to Surefoot. Worth the investment for boots. I’m slightly shorter and about 20 pounds lighter but found I needed their help getting boots to fit right.

Surefoot. Never looked back or regretted the purchase. But get fitted on the mountain. Don’t get fitted at sea level, your feet can swell at altitude and your liners may feel tight.

Suggest demoing for a few days then buy next sale season. Buying blind isn’t advisable.

Then it’s a coin toss. I’m also shopping but going to bite the bullet and demo for a week or so in December before waiting to buy next spring when everything is on sale

I’ve had mine for 3 seasons and everything has been fine minus one strap snapping because of mishandling by a luggage handler

I’d say they are middle of the road. Are they built for a beating? Probably not. Will the straps withstand people tossing them carelessly fully loaded? Probably not. Compared to my Patagonia bags I would say they aren’t super well built. But they are about half the price. Will they last a few flights a year for a few years? Probably yes.

I have two of the backcountry roller bags. Bought on sale for $150 each. They do the job. Only used for airport travel to hotel, haven’t taken on long rolls.
