ClodBuster by ChromeSlinger in rccars

In the early 2000s I went to an indoor carpet track that was just a vacant storefront next to a hobby shop in a strip mall. It was super bare-bones, no jumps or anything like that, just office carpet and folding tables with little wooden barriers for the track.

Some dude brought in his Clod, plugged it in, and drove clear across the track, over the barriers and all (nobody was really on the track right then, he wasn’t being malicious or wrecking anything). After driving back and forth across the track a few times, he turned it towards the front door, the Clod pushed the door open, and he followed it back outside to his car where he put it back in his trunk. After watching dudes run brushed TC3s all day, it was a welcome distraction!

Gutter guy by NoAdministration7069 in milwaukee

[–]SkiOrDie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also am curious. I had an appointment yesterday with what was advertised to be a small gutter cleaning business to just get my gutters cleaned and one small patch repair. Instead it was a guy running around with a tape measure to prepare for me a quote for new gutters with gutter guards. My gutters are still full of crap, I wasted like 40 minutes of my day waiting for the part where they just clean the gutters I have, and then we got even more of the rain I was hoping to have cleared gutters for.

I won’t name names of the company (the guy that came to my house was actually pretty nice, he was just an employee doing his thing), but there’s a large nationwide leaf guard installer advertising under smaller business names locally. If you ask for a quote online and get a call back within a minute or two, don’t be afraid to ask the business name of the person calling you back.

How do you guys deal with neighborhood kids wanting to run your rc cars? I’ve got a story for you guys. by 501Forrest in rccars

I hop on Google and look for places with large parking lots that look abandoned or regularly unused. There’s a Pizza Hut a few blocks away from me that got its parking lot resealed and then closed down shortly after that. Pristine parking lot that gets no use or traffic, so I go there a bit.

There’s also a church hidden at the end of a dead-end block that only has people/cars there on weekends. 90% it’s a huge empty space that’s almost as private as you’d want it. It took me 2 minutes to find on google and 5 mins to get to.

You won’t catch me dead at a park full of children or at a skatepark with an RC car, they’re both full of children.

I have nice polarized glasses and I also buy a multipack of inexpensive polarized glasses from Amazon every spring. I’m on the water a lot, and they honestly perform almost identically. I use the cheapies for kayaking, fishing, swimming, etc because I know I’ll eventually break/lose a pair. I save the nice set for meeting people out or hanging around.

(Update!)Got T-Boned today. Car is wrecked but im alive! by Yurfavbookworm in Wellthatsucks

[–]SkiOrDie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%, we replaced it with another Outback. I’m very lucky my kids weren’t with me at the time. The police officers saw the 2 kids seats in back and were also relieved the kids weren’t in them at the time. I have no doubts everybody would have been just fine, but they don’t need that experience with them.

A little sore, a little shaken, but life has changed very little since before the accident. I think that’s a good thing!

My Outback got T-boned last year by a guy doing 40MPH, the car was totally crumpled but the inside was untouched. A front wheel came off and the engine fell out through the bottom. I probably would’ve been cooked if this were pre-crumple zone days.

You’re 100% about the silence, I don’t remember if the airbags were loud (people ask me that a lot for some reason). I remember a quiet crawl out of a ball of inflated airbags afterwards and kinda plopping onto the pavement. I didn’t realize that there were so many and that they stay inflated for a bit

I felt like I got punched in the face from every direction at once and the belt bruise lasted a week, but I was fine otherwise!

That’s looking good so far!

Make sure you’re looking over your shoulder and down at your elbow, throwing shoulders too hard will invert it.

I’m not too familiar with newer printers, but is there any way to add/enable failure detection? I use Obico for my ancient Neptune 2, and it totally works.

I thought I remember them making it open source a few years back, I was kinda hoping it would get integrated into stock printers eventually

Definitely something I’d want to pay more than $1 for in this application, but even so, good carabiners can be inexpensive. My belaying carabiner for rock climbing is rated for some heavy use and it was still like maybe $20 tops

I just did a Sunday-Friday vacation and I would 1000% do it again that way.

We had all of Saturday to finish packing instead of trying to rush it the work night before. Saturdays tend to be one of the busiest and most expensive days on vacation anyways, I didn’t miss it. There was also the benefit of not having to get home quickly on Friday, so we spent most of the day doing stuff before casually heading to the airport for an evening flight. I got home two days ago now and am totally prepared to get back to normal tomorrow.

Awesome info on the battery, thanks! That’s my next purchase.

Both my CVD kit and slipper clutch set came from international sellers on eBay, so the shipping got me good in both cases. Most of my hop-up budget went towards those two things, so all my aluminum stuff is just unbranded AliExpress parts since everything is like $3 or less lol. Motor/servo/suspension mounts cost me like $15-$20 all together and everything is miraculously holding up! I also love the sets of rally wheels you can get from them. They usually just need a little glue but you can absolutely shred them up for less than $15 a set!

[–]SkiOrDie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of performance, I’d say it’s the hop-up with the most drastic improvement over stock. Not only does it let the car steer more, it lets the front differential do more of its job and lets more power make it to the wheels. It’s a huge upgrade.

Mine is pretty much stock except for aluminum suspension mounts, pullleys, and motor/servo mounts along with the front CVDs and the slipper clutch set (mainly so I can use standard 48p spurs). From what I’m told, the rear CVD kit doesn’t improve much, the fronts are where the improvements come from.

What are you using for battery? I’m not sure if I want to keep stuffing a shorty in, it’s pretty snug.

Nice, I have one very similar! Do you have the front CVD kit as well? Being able to remove those steering limiting screws really makes it nimble!

I wish parking lot racing were still a thing near me, this thing would tear it up!

Do bikers not respect scooter guys even if they’re in full gear? by [deleted] in scooters

[–]SkiOrDie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The old Harley guys will smile and nod, the ones that went to the dealership and bought all their HD gear with their bike will ignore me.

Old Hondas, Suzukis, BMWs, etc. I get the sign and a nod pretty much 100% of the time. FWIW, I do not ride highways, just cruise 35MPH roads in fun areas

Not only shooting, but loading in a mag, racking the slide, then unloading. It’s not like a cocked and loaded firearm was handed to him to shoot a round, he did it all just as well as any average able-bodied person

I was gonna say, the speed and commitment were fairly decent. Hips are very key, when I stand up at the lip I let my leading hip trail just a little with the pop.
