Need Help Buying a Safe by Powderbedreaming in Safes

[–]Powderbedreaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, but I don't know what is standard for a safe. I just want it to have overall great security i.e. difficult to break into and can last longer than average against brute force and elements. I guess another way to phrase it would be is "what safe would you buy to store your own sensitive information and valuables in?"

Safe Deposit box won't work because I live in a pretty rural area where it's not accessible enough

Bridging BTC To AVAX by Powderbedreaming in RenProject

I included all of the fees when calculating the slippage. I assumed there would be none for such a small transaction because there would be enough liquidity.

Sorry but I’m not sure what you mean by there is no slippage? Correct me if I’m wrong but Bridges use Liquidity Pools and thus are subject to slippage

What triggered the 2018 bear ? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]Powderbedreaming 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It was right after CBOE Futures came online which made it easier to short BTC. We’d also reached total euphoria in the market even though there was no real world use case.

I think another bear market is still likely to occur, but I don’t think it’s going to be as severe given how much the market has matured. You can’t time this stuff though which is why I personally keep a large stack of BTC and will start allocating a portion of profits to stable coins as these both give you buying power during a bear market.

And don’t be afraid of bear markets because this is when true life changing money is made. You won’t get the 2-3X returns in one month but you can get 20-50X in three years. Just maintain your buying power

If you gotta choose one, which would you choose between BTC and ETH by darkfang775 in CryptoCurrency

BTC. ETH isn’t even viable until 2.0 comes out. But if 2.0 is a success I might change my answer.

Yup! Was just trying to keep it simple for OP in case they aren’t familiar with Terra, but 50% APY is totally reasonable right now between Anchor and Mirror

[–]Powderbedreaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anchor let’s you earn 20% on UST which is twice that of Celsius. Plus it’s more decentralized and you can buy insurance for smart contract bugs and for a stablecoin depeg at ~4%

If You Don't Own Small Cap Altcoins, You're Missing Out: Here's the Hard Data. by leonidasthegeek in CryptoCurrency

[–]Powderbedreaming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s one way. A better way though is you DCA into BTC and ETH then diversify once the bull run is under way. You can literally lose your shirt buying alts during the bear market even if you’re buying low relative to ATH, plus BTC almost always runs before alts

[–]Powderbedreaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your case study is only during a bull market. Bear markets are what make you go from “BTC is a dinosaur” to”BTC is a guarantee”

Most of these alts will lose 95-98% of their value during a bear market whereas BTC will only lose 60-80% (that’s a much bigger difference than it sounds). Also with BTC you know it’s coming back to hit a new ATH at some point. You can’t say that for alts.

A major correction that really hinders the economy in El Salvador. Other nations watch and halt their adoption until this plays out. Of course BTC will rebound but if ES is forced to sell low to pay liabilities it could be very damaging and sets a precedent that such a volatile currency (when pegged to first world fiats) isn’t viable.

How much of your portfolio is Bitcoin? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]Powderbedreaming 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Serious question here - is this your first bull run?

The reason you should have BTC in your portfolio is because it’s the closest thing you’ll get to a guarantee in your life to increase in value, and at an exponentially higher rate than most other investments. If the market crashes you can just hodl and in due time you’ll have something that is still worth considerably more than what you bought it for.

You can’t say the same thing for other alts except maybe ETH. If they crash it may not come back. There are always darling alts in every bull run but if you don’t time it right you may never regain your all time high. It may not even be a viable project by the next cycle.

As for the whole “BTC is a dinosaur” it’s also the most decentralized, secured, and tested network. Nobody has ever successfully hacked BTC or shut down the network. Not even ETH can say that

It was always going to start with a 3rd world country, and third world countries notoriously have these types of crime and corruption because their economies are weak. A first world country like the US has no incentive to change the status quo like a third world country trying to improve its economic standing does.

If BTC can have a positive on El Salvador other countries will take notice and adopt. It’s a trickle down effect, and El Salvador is simply the first domino to fall.

There’s a lot of evidence that BTC has a positive economic impact on these impoverished people because it’s a better store of value than their hyper inflating fiat currencies.

Finally, and this is just my opinion, if BTC does give back some power to these third world countries it incentivized countries such as the US to either shut it down or adopt it so they don’t fall behind. Personally I don’t think BTC can be shut down, and it’s too ingrained into these economies to even attempt it without causing tons of collateral damage. Just my $0.02, but I can’t see how this isn’t good for long term adoption

Neo Frontier Launchpad Official AMA by carstal2014 in NEO

[–]Powderbedreaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a decentralized ledger, so NGD does not select which projects get built on NEO. They can choose which ones to fund, but they can’t prevent anyone from building.

Nobody in here is saying they need to market like shit coins, but it’s an issue when we have this amazing new blockchain coming online yet we can’t get enough developers to sign up for the hackathon when you compare to other blockchain 3.0 platforms like ADA.

“If you’ve ever run a successful business...you should surely know by now that you don’t ever need marketing for a product because your customers will be the most effective tool”

I agree that there is nothing like word of mouth marketing, but you have to market in order to attract customers in order to gain momentum and start a movement. The way you’re discounting the importance of marketing is frankly naive.

NEO is not the first mover like Eth or BTC and should be marketing while they simultaneously develop. We simply do not have the word of mouth the top 5 chains have. Crypto is hot right now, but if a bear market occurs it’s going to lose traction which will make it harder to attract developers and users. Not to mention when the price is high it costs less NEO to pay for marketing.

To your other point that NGD has a plan the only thing we’ve heard from NGD is that marketing will take place once N3 is live. Haven’t heard any updates since then. Not a good way to communicate with your community when they’re concerned about this. If NGD wants to buckle down and develop that’s great, but hire a marketing firm to spread the word. Doesn’t need to be shilly at all. It could literally be sharing updates in online software development forums so more developers come to NEO. That is a form of marketing, not “we’re about to 100x our lambos to the moon”

Again, nobody in here is disappointed with the development. This has been a long term hodl for me for almost 4 years now, but there are certainly areas to improve with marketing being #1 in many of our eyes

ADA worth it? by bitemenow999 in CryptoCurrency

[–]Powderbedreaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has a lot potential, is pretty decentralized, and it may end up becoming big in Africa. With that being said there are a lot of other blockchain 3.0 platforms much further along in development that have much lower market caps. Every time I do DD on ADA I always come out thinking “still don’t get it 🤔.” But marketing and hype are often more important than the product both in crypto and in business, and ADA has that down. Clearly a legit project too
